The Freighter Stewart J. Cort & Soo Locks (1970s).
View from the International Bridge of the largest ore hauling freighter on the Great Lakes leaving the Soo Locks.
The superfreighter is 1,000 feet long (longer than 3 football fields stretched end to end) & 105 feet wide.
It can travel 16 miles per hour, and carry more than 52,000 ton loads. The ship is owned by Bethlehem Steel Corp.
Construction begun in 1853
Completed in 1855
