HARRY LEROY MYERS
89, of Gladwin, died Jan. 12, 2004, at Gladwin Living Centre after a long illness.
He had lived in Gladwin since 1948.
Mr. Myers was born Aug. 20, 1914, to Harry and Grace (Motz) Myers in Kalkaska. He married Ida LaVoye on Sept. 25, 1934, in Harrison. She preceded him in death in 2002.
He was owner and operator of Myers Dairy in Kalkaska where he bottled and sold milk for several years.
He was also involved in missionary minister work for the pentecostal church.
Surviving Mr. Myers are his daughters, Joyce Hillman of Indianapolis, Ind., Jean (Aaron) Muma of Gladwin and Jeraldine Haynak of Clare; sons, Delwin (Vonda) Myers and Gary (Ann) Myers, both of Gladwin; daughter-in-law, Wilma Myers-Oaks of Coleman; 26 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Vera Crane of Rapid City.
Besides his wife Ida, he was preceded in death by son, Larry; daughter, Jan Lambert; great-grandsons, Jason Mogg and Jason Owen-Lambert; son-in-law, Robert Haynak; and grandson, Eddy Muma.
Funeral services were held Jan. 16, at Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin. Elder Stanley Muma officiated. Burial was at Grout Township Cemetery, Gladwin.

JAMES W. MYERS
of Saginaw, died August 20, 1929, at Ford hospital, Detroit, following a critical operation on his head. Mr. Myers was a former resident of Gladwin coming here from Ohio about 1904, and engaging in the poultry business under the firm name of Myer & Chilcote, later he engaged in the shoe business with E. H. Waller, who is now proprietor of the Tamarack Inn at Houghton Heights. The firm name was Waller & Myers.
Later he branched into the dry goods line, taking as his partner John F. Englehardt. He bought out Mr. Englehardt interest in the business when Mr. Englehardt enlisted in the World War. In 1921, Mr. Myers moved to Saginaw where he had bought a dry goods business. He was married in Gladwin to Miss Susie Hunter, September 5, 1906. Two daughters, Virginia and Maxine, were born to them. In 1906 Mr. Myers joined the Gladwin F. & A.M. Lodge No. 397, and was a member until 1927, when he was transferred to Saline lodge No. 155, Saginaw.
During Mr. Myers, residence in Gladwin he was active in social and civic affairs and held the office of city clerk. Funeral services were held at the South Saginaw Presbyterian church, Thursday, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. A. J. Preston. The pall bearers were Willard Walton, E. A. Coan, Charles Oglestone and Glen W. Wagar of Gladwin, Will Hause of Bay City and D. A. Reid, a Saginaw druggist, located near the Myers store. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

JOHN LORENZO MYERS
died Wednesday, March 7, 1928, at his home in Tobacco township of Bright's disease. Mr. Myers was born Jan. 30, 1847 in Custer county, Ohio. He served 3 years and 3 months in the Civil war, enlisting June 3, 1862. He was discharged owing to sickness but re-enlisted at the expiration of the time and serving 3 months more. He was promoted from private to corporal in company A, 128 Ohio regiment. After the war he worked in the oil fields for about 6 years had a drug store at Cygnet, Custer county, Ohio. In 1899 he came to Gladwin county and located on a farm in Tobacco township. He has lived in Arkansas, Ohio and Michigan.
He was married Oct. 29, 1875 to Laura Beatty, Nine children were born to them, seven of whom, George, Myrtle, Byron, Lorenzo, Jr., May, Adam and one baby unnamed are deceased. Two daughters, Mrs. Helen Shaffer of Beaverton and Mrs. Leona Disel of Findley, Ohio, two grandchildren, Doris and Delos Disel and Mrs. Myers survive him. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias. The funeral was held at Dale, Saturday afternoon, March 10, at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. A. J. Preston. The pallbearers were: John Flock, Charles Tolles, William Richardson, Elmer Coolidge, Ira Brand and Henry Smith. Gladwin County Record dated 03-15/1928 Column - 3 Page - 4
