JOHN CHARLES HERMAN LEMKE

John Charles Herman Lemke was later known as Herman Lemke born November 25, 1828 in Berlin, Germany came to the USA in 1850. He studied at Capital University in Columbus, OH for two years in order to enter the ministry. He was assigned as pastor of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Monroe, MI. Married Mary Dorothea Buckel in 1853. From 1853 to 1872 he served the following Lutheran Churches (apparently serving more than one at a time) Holy Ghost, Monroe, MI, St. John's Trinity Lutheran Church, Waltz, MI, St. Peters, Halfway, East Detroit (Eastpointe), MI and stayed at Trinity until his retirement.
