MISS EMMA E. BOLIN, ERIE TEACHER
EXCHANGES VOWS WITH LIEUT. M.C. LEWIS
June 19, 1943

Miss Emma E. Bolin of Menominee, Mich., teacher in the Erie Community high school, and Lieut. Malcolm C. Lewis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Lewis of near Erie were married in the Bethel Evangelical Lutheran church at Menominee Saturday at 7 p.m. The double ring ceremony was read by the Rev. L. J. Sodergren. Miss Linnca Bolin of Chicago served her sister as maid of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Grace Adele Lewis, sister of the bridegroom, and Misses Vivian Carlson and Eva Johnson, both of Menominee. Dr. Walter Smejkal of Chicago was best man and ushers were Richard and Kennard Seyller of Chicago and Carl Erickson of Menominee. The bride was attired in a gown of white silk marquisette with a finger tip veil caught with orange blossoms and she carried an arm bouquet of white roses centered with an orchid. Her four attendants each wore a gown of aqua marquisette. Their blush veils were caught with yellow daisies and their arm bouquets were of the same flowers. The bride’s mother wore a navy blue sheer dress with white accessories. Mrs. Lewis, mother of the bridegroom, wore shrimp colored silk crepe with black and white accessories. Each wore a shoulder corsage of gardenias and sweet peas. A reception was held in the Crystal room in the Hotel Marinette in Marinette, Wis. The Misses Shirley Telander and Rogene Hegberg of Rockford presided at the punk bowl and Miss Lois Telander of Rockford at the coffee table. The decorated wedding cake was cut with a saber by the bride. A musical program included three selections, “I Love You Truly,” “At Dawning,” and “Night and Day,” sung by Miss Grace Adele Lewis, also a group of piano selections by Norman Charles Tuinstra of Daggett, Mich., an eight year old cousin of the bride.

Mrs. Lewis was graduated from the Menominee high school and from Augustana college in Rock Island. For the past two years and two months she was instructor in the commercial department in the Erie Community high school. Lieut. Lewis is a graduate of the Erie Community high school with the class of 1935. He attended the University of Illinois for two years and has been in the service of his country for two and one-half years and for nearly a year of that time was in Iceland. The newlyweds left Thursday for Fort Robinson, Nebr., where Lieut. Lewis has been stationed for some time.
