MONTCALM COUNTY

By an act of the Legislative Council of the territory of Michigan, approved March 2, 1831, Montcalm and several other
counties were given definite limits. Section 7 of this act provided:
"That the county included within the following
limits to wit: West of the line between ranges 4 and 5, east of the line between ranges 8 and 9 west, south of the line
between
townships 12 and 13, and north of the line between townships 8 and 9 north, containing sixteen townships, be,
and the same is herby set off into a separate county by the name of

Montcalm."
