Linus Gilmire was born Sept 23 1879, in Casnovia. His parents were Mr and Mrs George Gulmire. Linus lived in Casnovia until he was a young man then moved to Atrim County, where he worked in the lumber camps. After coming to Grant, Linus married Bessie Dougan, June 18 1906, in Ashland Center, then a Baptist Church. They had four children, Cecil 1907 Basil 1909 Daisie June 1916 and Wayne 1923. They moved from Bridgeton to Grant and lived there all of there lives, Linus worked as a carpenter and built three houses in Grant. He also helped build Johnnys Restaurant. He also worked at Overly Bros, and the sawmill. Linus passed away in 1962, Bessie in 1932. (Submitted by Daisie Gulmire Eaton)
