Flower Creek cemetery is located on 44th Avenue, a dirt road, with the cemetery on a hilly piece of land, surrounded by farm land and trees. There are 213 interments with 78 buried before the land officially became a cemetery. The earliest tombstone shows 1858. No doubt, there are earlier ones as there are many unmarked graves and records are not complete. The name Flower Creek must have been from the creek that runs north of the cemetery and winds around and flows into Lake Michigan. It is secluded from heavy traffic and adjourned the Fordham family land that once was owned by John Fordham. There are four generations of Fordhams buried in this cemetery. Many Civil War veterans are buried there and it is becoming a place that some of the resorters on the bank of Lake Michigan want to be buried.

The land was being used for burials soon after the settlement began, and in 8 Nov. 1888, the land was purchased from Charles and Mary Bogue Huston for $40.00 with property deeded to Board of Health. Research is needed to establish when the townships were put in charge of the cemeteries. Michigan Dept. of Health in Lansing, capitol, should have some records and this will be explored. The Oceana County Health Dept. says they have records of this. A committee is working to established and produce maps and history of the two cemeteries. Ordinance and Rules and Regulations are established but as committee is a voluntary group with no authority to make changes without Townshp Board approval, it will take time to make the cemeteries more attractive without losing the rural appeal.
