Mrs. Nettie Moseler of Ontonagon, Michigan, was notified that her son, Sergeant John L. Moseler, had been listed as missing in action. He was killed instantly from a concusion on December 17, 1944. His body was recovered and buried somewhere in an American cemetery in Belgium. Mrs. Moseler received this letter from a Catholic Chaplain of the 1121 Engineers Combat Group. In early January, the family heard that their son was missing in action. Then on March 7 another telegram came, stating that he had been killed. John was born here on December 4, 1918, and lived in "White Row" with his family. He went to school here, but his family left here in 1936, sh he graduated from Ontonagon School in 1937. John loved horses, as his dad was a "barn Boss" of the Foster Latimer Company. He also greatly loved his dog, "Nap." John worked for the Lake Superior Lumber Company before entering the service on April 2, 1941. He left for overseas duty February 1942. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Moseler, two brothers and four sisters.
