ANNA (KLOCKARS) PEARSON
Mrs. Charles Pearson, 86, a well known Ontonagon resident, passed away Saturday morning, July 4th at the Ontonagon Memorial Hospital. The former Anna Klockars was born March 25, 1884 in Finland of Swedish descent and came to the United States in 1903. She was married to Charles Pearson at Ontonagon on Dec. 31, 1910 and resided here ever since. Her husband preceded her in death in 1961. Mrs. Pearson was a devout member of the Siloa Lutheran Church. In earlier years she was very active in the Ladies Aid and numerous other church activities.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Margaret) Shanks of West Allis, Wisl.; Mrs. Theodore (Martha) Wallo of Kingsford and Mrs. Clarence (Mabel) Ganske of Milwaukee, Wis; one son, Carl Pearson, Racine, Wis; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The Allen Cane Funeral Home opened for visitation at nonn Monday. Feral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Siloa Lutheran Church, the Rev. John Eilertson officiating. Burial was in the family lot at Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Elis Holmes, Charles Willman, Norman Jones, Jack Shanks, Jack Watt and Wendell Anderson. Twenty four members of the immediate family including all of her children and a number of grandchildren were here to attend the funeral.

Anna was born 25 Mar 1884 in Korsholm, Vassa, Finland (of Swedish descent), and died 04 Jul 1970 in Ontonagon, Ontonagon County, Michigan. She married Karl Pearson 31 Dec 1910 in Ontonagon, Ontonagon Couny, Michigan, son of Per Johansson and Maja Jansdotter. He was born 11 May 1880 in Fredsberg, Skaraborg County, Vastergotland, Sweden, and died 16 Aug 1961 in Ontonagon, Ontonagon County, Michigan. Anna Klockars arrived at Ellis Island on May 21, 1903. Her port of departure was Liverpool, England. Ship of travel was the "Majestic."


CHARLES PEARSON
80, passed away Friday morning, August 18 at his home, 320 Pennsylvania Avenue, Ontonagon following a lengthy illness. Mr. Pearson was born in Vastergotland, Sweden May 11, 1881 and came to the United States in 1906 locating at Calumet. He was employed in the copper mines there and in Trimountain before coming to Ontonagon in 1909. He was self-employed as a mason and bricklayer and had been employed by the Ontonagon Paper Mill for four years prior to his retirement. On December 31, 1910 he was united in marriage to Anna Klockars and they made their home here continuously. Mr. and Mrs. Pearson celebrated their golden wedding in 1960. Mrs. Pearson was a member of the Siloa Lutheran Church and active in the building of the new church on East River Street. He served on the board of deacons until he became ill. He was also a member of the Ontonagon Odd Fellow Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Margaret) Shanks and Mrs. Mabel Elliott of West Allis, Wis., and Mrs. Ted (Martha) Wallo of Kingsford; a son, Carl of Racine, Wis., also 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His body was taken to the Allen Cane Funeral Home where many friends paid their respects. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 o'clock at the Siloa Lutheran Church with the Rev. Edward J. Carlson officiating. Mrs. Hannah Fowler was the organist. During the services she accompanied Mrs. Charles Willman, Mrs. Jack Watt, Richard Kilmer and Peter Geis who sand "Children of the Heavenly Father" and "Nearer, Still Nearer." Those service as honorary pallbearers, all members of the Odd Fellows Lodge, were E.A. Enegren, Robert E. Davison Sr., Eric Seline, Roy L. Muskatt, and William Bloomquist. The active pallbearers were Wendell Anderson, Alfred E. Kilmer, Elis Holmes, Charles LeMoine, Gust Johnson and Axel Nygard. Burial was in the family lot in the Riverside Cemetery. Relatives here for the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Shanks, Nancy and Judy and Mrs. Mabel Elliott and children, Marvin, Peggy, Robert, Dan and Don all of West Allis, Wis.; Charles Shanks of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pearson and son, Charles of Racine, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Ted wallo, Carol and Patsy of Kingsford.
