Town of Dewing Siding


Dewing’s Osceola County: on this spur of the Grand Rapids & Indiana Railroad, in Leroy Township, from 1871, the Ashton Lumber Company operated its mill and general store, and the place was called Dewing’s Siding; the members of the firm were Messrs. Dewing, Halladay and Watson, and its storekeeper, John A Erickson, became its first postmaster, with the office named Dewing’s, on April 7, 1900 the office operating until April 30 1907
