Very happy to meet you all.
My name is Christine Walters and
I hope very quickly I'll soon know some of your names and interests. Researching in Wayne County
is a maze of "trails". There is a never-ending
source of material here so I know, without a doubt, you will never get bored.
I will be posting information regularly so if you have anything you'd like to share with the researchers,
we would love to have it. The items you send us will help me in a thousand ways and more importantly will help the reseacher.
We are always be looking for Obituaries, County and City Histories, Biographies, News Articles, Cemeteries
and most especially I'll be looking for you Pioneer Families.
I sincerely regret that I'm unable to help you with personal research.
I don't have the resources for one thing, I don't live in Michigan and lastly I don't have the time....
but whenever possible I might have suggestions to help you along.
I'm also the host of Chippewa and
Mackinac Counties so I do keep myself pretty busy.
Wayne County was created in 1815, it is
Michigan's only original charter county, named for General Anthony Wayne.
It is one of 83 Counties in Michigan, the county seat is Detroit. Wayne
County is the 11th largest county in the Nation by population. This is a
very unique, very old, historic county with enough history to keep us busy
for years. Wayne County has 28 Historic Districts, there are 81 known
cemeteries, 61 Libraries, and at least 14 Colleges. The major ancestors group of Wayne County is African American - 42%, followed by those of
German origin at 11%.
Please be sure and join
our mailing list.. the lists are by regions - join as few or as many
as you are interested in. This list is the one and only place where
we announce all our updates. The Wayne County website is updated
regularly - so you won't want to miss anything.
