High School and Dartmouth College, graduating, A.B., 1864, A.M., 1867; married, 1st, at Anamosa, Ia., Jan. 9, 1868, Elizabeth Godwin (now deceased); 2nd, Detroit, Aug. 2, 1905, Eugenia Bury. Engaged in teaching school until 1882, when he became identified with the Aetna Life Insurance co. at Chicago and a year later was appointed general agent of the company at Detroit; has been general agent for Michigan of the Northwestern Life Insurance Co. of Milwaukee since 1889. Vice president Central Savings Bank. Served in the Union Army, 9th Squadron, Rhode Island Cavalry, at the time of the Civil War.
