STANTON, Marvin M., merchant; born, Otsego Co., N.Y., May 7, 1850; son of Abram A. and Hannah (Barton) Stanton; educated at Alfred University, N.Y.; married, July 5, 1871, Miss Alice Lee. Has been a resident of Michigan since 1857; came to Detroit, 1867; has been identified with manufacture and sale of men’s furnishings since the beginning of his business career; senior partner of M.M. Stanton & Co., organized, 1871. Public lighting commissioner of Detroit; was police commissioner under Mayor Maybury. Member Board of Commerce, Detroit Wholesalers’ Association.
