SULLIVAN, James, banker; born, Detroit, Oct. 8, 1853; son of Timothy and Mary (Minahan) Sullivan; educated in Detroit public schools; married at Detroit, Oct. 8, 1878, Kate Falvey. Reared on a farm; engaged at 17, with his brother, in shipping cattle to Eastern markets and still continues in the business as member of firm of Sullivan & Fleischman, which has been in existence since about 1885; began in meat packing business, 1885, under name of Sullivan & Messmore, firm becoming Sullivan Beef co., 1895.
