White Lead and Color Co., manufacturers of paints and jobbers of window glass and painters’ supplies; born, Germany, Dec. 9, 1861; son of Charles and Jennie Taepke; came to Detroit with parents, 1865; educated in public schools of Detroit; married at Detroit, Oct. 2, 1883, Miss Rosie Pfeifer. Began as a boy, in 1876, with the Boydell Bros. and passed through various positions from the bottom up until 1891, when he was admitted to the firm, of which he is vice president and director.
