Edward
TELPER, Edward; born, Whitby, Ont., Can.,
June 13, 1850; son of James and Marian Williamson Telfer; educated in public
schools of Ontario. Came to Detroit from Canada, 1869, and entered wholesale
grocery house of Walter J. Gould & Co.; removed to Grand Rapids, Mich.,
1885, and organized the Telfer Spice Co.; returned to Detroit,1892, and became
partner of Walter J. Gould & Co.; withdrew, 1898, and in 1899 established
the Telfer Coffee Co. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Republican.
Presbyterian. Mason. Clubs: Detroit Golf, Fellowcraft, Detroit Curling
