WALKER, Frederick W., mechanical engineer; born,
New York City, Aug. 27, I874; son of Robert S. and Francis H. (Amermann) Walker;
educated in Brooklyn public schools, Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and Stevens
Institute of Technology, Hoboken, N. J. Began active career with the Edison
Electric Illuminating Co., Brooklyn, as draughtsman, Sept., 1895, and continued
until Oct., 1899, at which time was steam engineer for the company; entered
employ of Westinghouse, Churchill & Co., New York, and was engineer in
charge of construction of Toledo, Fremont & Norwalk Ry., Fremont, O., and
Grand Rapids, Grand Haven & Muskegon Ry., Grand Rapids, Mich.; became member
of Comstock, Haigh, Walker Co., Detroit, 1902. Vice president and chief engineer
Comstock, Haigh, Walker Co., and Milwaukee Northern Ry. Co., of Wisconsin.
Member American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Institute of
Electrical Engineers, Alumni Association of Stevens' Institute of Technology.
Served in U. S. Navy in Spanish-American War. Clubs: Detroit; Brooklyn
Engineers' (Brooklyn, N. Y.). Residence: Detroit Club, Detroit, and Port
Washingtoi), Ozaukee Co., Wis.
