Benton Co. Teacher Arrested for Punishing Boy But Resigns Before Trial.
FOLEY, Minn., March 18.-Arthur Crapo, a teacher in school district No. 36, was arraigned in justice court here before Justice O. C. Lance, upon the complaint of William Dusha, charged with having inflicted unreasonable and immoderate bodily punishment upon the person of Fred Dusha, a pupil in his school. It was charged that the punishment was unreasonably severe as the boy was taken to Dr. Friesleben in Sauk Rapids and it was found that he had received serious bruises from the school master.
The patrons of the school were greatly aroused over the affair, and not only the father of the Busha boy but others as well, who have sons and daughters under the care of this teacher, some of whom have received rather more than their share of the same kind of treatment planned to take action.
The Busha complaint was withdrawn, however, when the offending teacher announced his resignation, and the whole matter has been dropped.
