The Princeton Union (Princeton, MN) Thursday, March 23, 1905; submitted by Jim Dezotell

About eighty friends and neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. John Skretting gathered at their home last Sunday to help them celebrate their twentieth wedding anniversary. There was a bountiful dinner served that would satisfy the taste of an epicure. The day was spent
with music and games. Mr. and Mrs. Skretting were presented with a beautiful hanging lamp, the presentation speech being made by John Wahlin. Many present were surprised as they did not know that John was an orator. Andrew Sehlin gave a very appropriate
reading. John Skretting and Ellen Bendickson were married at Greenfield, Fillmore county, Minn., March 16th, 1885, and they have lived here most of the time as they were among the first settlers in this section. The old log house which they occupied was the first postoffice here, the postoffice being named after Mr. Skretting's old home in Norway. They now have a fine frame house and the best improved farm in town. Their many friends hope that they may live to celebrate their golden wedding.
