G. A. Aubol, deputy collector, who was to have been in Thief River Falls on February 28 for the purpose of holding income tax meetings, has sent word that he will be unable to be there during February, but will hold meetings on March 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.


Ruth Bamford

Mrs. Edwin A. Bamford gave a Valentine party at her home, 694 East Burnside street, Wednesday evening honoring her niece, Miss Ruth Bamford of Thief River Falls, Minn. The house decorations were hearts and pussy willows with red shaded electric lights. The effect was very artistic and much admired. Twenty young people were invited to meet Miss Bamford, who is a most charming girl and very popular among the younger set in her own town. The evening was spent very pleasantly with archery and other Valentine games, music and dancing.

Mrs. C. E. Francis presided in the dining room and cut the ices. Much merriment was caused as the young people passed around the dining-room table and received their refreshments cafeteria style.

LOCAL NEWS ITEMS. M. H. Bishop of Strathcona, Minn., has been appointed assistant bank examiner for the state banking department of Minnesota. He assumes his position February 1.


Mrs. N. Bundhund

ENTERTAINS
Mrs. N. Bundhund entertained a number of her friends Wednesday afternoon at her home. The afternoon was spent in social chat, and a delicious lunch was served at 4 o'clock. Those present were: Mrs. M. G. Thoreson, Mrs. G. C. Gulrud, Mrs. Martin Olson, Mrs. Carl Edseth, Mrs. M. Stephenson, Mrs. Geo. Johnson, Mrs. Wm Gerrulet, Mrs. J. Ferdinandsen, Mrs. A. S. Gaudland, Mrs. Lee Babcock.


Morgan Christianson

Local News Items. Morgan Christianson, who has been bookkeeper at the Farmers State bank, left yesterday for Strathcona, Minn., where he will be employed in a similar position in the bank there.


Charles Gustafson

MINNESOTA BRIEFS. St. Hilare - Charles Gustafson has sold his farm in the town of Rocksbury to William Koop of Illinois for $50 per acre. Mr. Koop has also purchased personal property from Gustafson to the amount of nearly $2,400. Mr. Gustafson is one of the old-time settlers in Rocksbury and has made a great success as a farmer.


Henry Hope

Henry Hope returned yesterday from Crystal Lake, Ill., where Mrs. Hope was buried. He was accompanied by an aunt, Mrs. A. T. White of Winnebago City, Minn., who will act as his housekeeper.

Miss Ruby Jensen has taken the position of bookkeeper at the Goodridge State Bank.

McLEE NAMED AS DIRECTOR
Stuart McLeod has been named to succeed A. J. Anderson as director for Pennington county in the Minnesota Red River Valley Development association. Mr. McLeod is well and favorably known all throughout this section, and the delection of him for the office will be heartily commended. Mr. Anderson, through the circumstance of having taken up his residence at Grygla, necessarily had to tender his resignation as director for Pennington county.

LOCAL NEWS ITEMS. Mrs. H.B. Rockne has accepted the position of teacher in the Tommerdahl district and began her duties Monday.

Thief River Falls, Minn., Sept. 20. - I. W. Ward wants to change his name. Patriotic citizens saw his suitcase bearing his initials and thought he was a syndicalist. The crowd tried direct action. Ward escaped with numerous bruises.

LOCAL NEWS ITEMS. Miss Gladys Wilson has accepted a position of bookkeeper and stenographer at the Farmers State bank. She left Tuesday for a week’s visit at Grygle before entering upon her new work.
