Background: David Edwards and his wife Elizabeth migrated to Amite County, Mississippi from South Carolina, bringing with them all or most of their children, who were born in South Carolina. The children were: John (m. first Martha Ann Stephens, second Elizabeth B. Eppes) who lived in Copiah County; Joseph; Matthew; Ellison; Jesse Madison; Elizabeth; Ailsey (sp.?); Aizey (sp.?); David, Jr.; and rachel who married Jonathan Humphreys. These Edwards are known to have settled in various counties in Mississippi.
