Granberry Family Cemetery
Located just west of Shubuta about 3 miles on private property of your Clarke County Host Genealogy Trails, which once was the Granberry home and land.
Thought to be the resting place only one person, it has recently been discovered that this must be a family cemetery. In the past, due to overgrowth, only one marker could be seen and a fallen brick pillar was believed to have been the entrance to the grave sight. However, with the current clean up and restoration efforts, the brick pillar has been discovered to be a marker also, though it can not be read for it lies face down and too large and fragile to set back in place. There are several sunken places in the ground facing east surrounding the known graves and a few mounds believed to be resting places of others. Efforts to replace these monuments back upright are underway. Although the pictures show overgrown grass & weeds needing cut, fallen trees and brush, as well as large standing trees have been removed so the site is accessible by walking.
