    The Hon. The Probate Court of Clark (sic) County met according to law. This First Monday of March in the Year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and thirty nine -

        Present the Hon, Henry Hailes Judge, W. F. Green Clerk, R. B. Crosby Sheriff

        Personally appears in open Court John L. Howze and takes the oath of Administrator on the Estate of William Howze Late of Clark (sic) County deceased.

        Ordered by the Court That George Granberry, E. Holden, George Knight, James M. Seale, and John B. Kent be appointed appraisers of the Estate of William Howze late of Clarke (sic) County deceased.

        Ordered by the Court That Letters of Administration be granted to John S. Howze on the Estate of William Howze aforesaid deceased.

        Ordered by the Court That The Court now adjourn until Court in course.

  Letters of Administration The Orphan Court to John S. Howze Whereas William Howze late of Clark (sic) County and State of Mississippi lately died intestate having while he died at the time of his death due goods rights and Credits within the county aforesaid by means whereof the fee deposition and powers of granting the Administration of all and singular the goods rights and Credits of Said deceased and final demission of the same to the Said Court by Statute manifestly belongs hereupon the Court des __?__ that goods Rights and Credits of the said deceased may be well and truly administered conveyed and disposed of do hereby grant unto the Said John S. Howze in whose fidelity the Court has the highest confidence full power by virtue of these present to administer the goods rights and credits of said deceased which to him in his life time and at the time of his death did belong, and to ask Levy Receive and Recover the same and to pay the debts in which the deceased stood obligated so far fourth as his goods Rights and Credits will ___?__ according to their date and order of law being first sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God to make a true and perfect Inventory thereof and Exhibit to the said Court in order to be Recorded in time as the law directs and render a just & true in a court calculastion (sic) Concerning said Administration as the laws requires and the court ordain appoint and Constitute upon the said John S. Howze Administrator of all and any _?_ the goods rights and credits of the said deceased. 

        Witness the Hon. Henry Hailes Judge of Probate for the County & State aforesaid the first Monday of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine.

    Know all men by these present that we John S. Howze, P. Falconer, Ebenezer Holden, and Samuel W. Howze of Clark (sic) County and State aforesaid are held and firmly bound unto Henry hailes Judge of Probate for the County of Clark (sic) in the final sum of Twenty five Thousand Dollars lawful money of said State for the payment of which will and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of our heirs Executors Administrator, & assign Jointly and severally firmly by these present sealed with our seal and dated this 4th day of March A. D. Eight hundred and Thirty nine.

        The Conditions of this obligation is such that the said John S. Howze Administrator of the Goods, Chattles and Credits of William Howze Deceased do make a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the good, chattles, & credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of the said Administrator or in the hands or possession of any other person or persons for them and the same so made do exhibit to the orphan court of Clark (sic) County when he shall be thereto required by the said Court and such goods, chattles and credits do will and truly administer according to Law and do further make a Just and true account of his actings and doings therein when thereto required by the said court and will the rest of the said goods chattles and credits which shall be found remaining in upon the account of the said William Howze deceased the same being first examined and allowed by the same court.  Shall deliver and pay unto such persons respectfully as are intitled (sic) to the same by law and if it shall hereafter appear that any last will or Testament was made by the deceased and the same be proved in Court and John S. Howze obtain Letters Testamentary and the said John S. Howze Administrator do in such case being required deliver up his Letter of Administration to the said Court.  Then this obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

        A true and perfect inventory of the appraisement of the personal Estate of William Howze deceased appraised on the Second day of April A. D. 1839.

    I George Knight an acting member of the Board of County Police in and for the County & State aforesaid do hereby Certify that I administered the oath required by law to George Granberry, E. Holden, J. B. Kent, George Knight & James M. Seale as appraisers of the Estate of William Howze deceased late of Clarke County Mississippi on the 2nd day of April A.D. 1839.
