He worked as a mechanic and had served in the US Army. He was a member of North American Hunting Club.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Cottingham of Mobile, AL; One Sister, Pamela Partridge of Wilmer, AL; One Brother, Larry Cottingham of Lawrenceville, GA; Nieces, Nephews and Other Relatives.

A visitation will be held from 1 PM until the 2 PM Funeral Service on Monday, August 17, 2009 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Coaker officiating.

Interment will be at Alford Cemetery in Leakesville, MS.

Obit: Roy Watson Cottingham, age 80, a native of Bay Minette and resident of Chunchula died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at his residence.

He Served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 41 years of service as a postal worker for the US Postal Service.

He is survived by his Daughter, Pamela Giddens of Wilmer; Two Sons, Larry Cottingham of Lawrenceville, GA. and Terry Cottingham of Chunchula; Seven Grandchildren, Tammy Partridge, Randle Partridge, Amanda Partridge, Maxwell Nelson, Shelley Nelson, Rebecca Nelson and Michael Cottingham; Seventeen Great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held from 1 PM until the 2 PM Funeral Service on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Coaker officiating.

Interment will be at Alford Cemetery in Leakesville, MS.

A homemaker, she died April 4. She was born November 12, 1922 in Hamburg, Germany.
She is survived by her daughters Linda (Murphy) Eubanks, Susan Howard; sons Bobby (Cynthia) Cochran, Jerry Cochran, Mike (Melissa) Cochran and Bill (Robin) Cochran; 20 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Homer Cochran and parents Standish and Antoinette (Kowalski) Budzinski.
Pallbearers included Bryan Cochran, Tony Cochran, Derrick Cochran, Casey Cochran, Vince Cochran and Scott Cochran.

Obit: Ruth Davis Cooley, age 85, of Monroe, passed away on the 5th of March 2014 after a brief illness. She was born to Jeff and Magdalene Davis in Leakesville, Mississippi on June 12, 1928.
Her childhood was spent on the family farm, becoming very involved in sports as she entered high school. She married her high school sweetheart Malcolm Cooley from Lucedale, Mississippi in 1946. Shortly after, they moved to Monroe, Louisiana where Ruth began working as a secretary and teaching accounting at the college. She then developed a typing and copying service for business clients, court reporting, and churches. The business grew and in 1948, she founded Cooley Printers and Lithographers, now known as Cooley Printers. She had five daughters, supporting them in sports, music, and activities on the river, while being very involved in the community, including running for Mayor of Monroe.
Ruth had a very strong faith, taught her Sunday School class and faithfully attended Parkview Baptist Church on Forsythe. She represented class, strength, beauty, and integrity and her favorite saying was "straight forward and unafraid."
She is survived by her 5 daughters: Malva (Bobby) Rutledge, Rhonda (James) Counselman, Sharron (Greg) Ochs, Cyndi (Larry) Cormier, and Joy (Mike) Ryan. Sisters: Margaret Moore of Alabama, and Faye Avard of Monroe; Brother: Pat Davis of Alabama. Grandchildren: Jim (Natasha) Murphy, Jackie (Dave) Dubuy, Vanessa (James) Clark, Ebert VanBuren, Jr., Tamara (Jarrett) Spurgeon, Jessica (Robert) England, Jed (Kari) Counselman, Gregory (Jessica) Ochs, Joni Cormier, Josie Cormier, Jamie (Cammy) Cormier, Jarrod Cormier, Jennifer Levy, Madison Ryan; along with numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Malcolm Cooley; Brother, Jeff "Buck" Davis and Grandson, Kevin Rutledge.
Visitation will be at Parkview Baptist Church Chapel on Forsythe Avenue in Monroe from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the afternoon on Sunday, March 9th. Funeral services will be held at Parkview Baptist Church Forsythe Avenue, beginning at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 10th with Rev. Erby Burgess presiding. Gravesite service will follow at 5:00 PM in Leakesville, Mississippi at Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery with Billy Dan Moore, nephew, presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude, that memorial contributions be made in Ruth Cooley's name to Parkview Baptist Church Youth Group.

He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War from 11/14/1966 to 913/1972.
He was employed as a Crane Operator. Mr. Cook was a member of First Baptist Church of Lucedale.
He is survived by his wife: Cora Jean Martin Cook and two daughters: Beverly C. (Ray) Boone, Belinda (Alex) Dye; his father Winner V. Cook; Best Friend, Willard Goff; grandchild, Joseph Cruthirds; grandchild, Ashton Deakle; grandchild, Victoria Boone; grandchild, Jacob Dye; grandchild, Samantha Dye;

Cooley was dead on arrival, Saturday, Aug. 28, at the George County Hospital of an apparent heart attack. He was a retired welder at Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula and a member of the Lighthouse First Pentecostal Church.
He was born in Greene County and resided at Route 1, Lucedale.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Louise Parnell Cooley, Lucedale; three daughters, Mrs. Nelta Woodard, Lucedale; Mrs. Alviedean Seals, Lake Beach, Fla.; and Mrs. Maurica Moody, Lucedale; three sons, Archie Wayne, H.L. and Timothy, all of Lucedale; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Parnell and Mrs. Verba Ray McLeod, both of Lucedale and three grandchildren.

A Lucedale native, she was an active member of First Baptist Church and the George County Senior Citizens Group, an active volunteer with the George-Greene Baptist Association Food Bank and a skilled gardener. She was a George County School System cafeteria manager for 32 years. She died July 20, 2013.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Conner (Ed) McIntosh and two sons, Dr. David James (Charlotte) Conner and Michael Ray Conner; five grandchildren, Tanya Carraway, Ragan Leah (Jim) Percherke, Jason David (Michelle) Conner, Jeremy Franklin Conner and Dr. Jeanna Elizabeth (Adam) Mason; eight great grandchildren, Zack, Hannah, Jessica, Esther and Egan Conner, Conner Hayes Carraway and Aiden and Alaina Percherke; and a brother, Eugene C. (Josephine) Howell.

A member of the Church of God faith, a self-employed logger and a dozer operator for Leonard Pipeline Company and a board member of Bexley Utilities, he died August 4. He was one of the founding members of the Bexley Volunteer Fire Department, where he also served as Fire Chief. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy about the battleship U.S.S. Pennsylvania in the Pacific Theater.
He is survived by his wife Ella Goff Cowart; son Jerome Cowart; daughter Donna (Frank) Bexley; grandson William Bexley, all of Lucedale; sister Vermell Green of Leaf; nephew Shackford Green of Hilton Head, SC; niece Marilyn Stewart of Vicksburg; stepchildren Sherrie Mills, Donnie Goff, and Rev. Kenneth Goff; step grandchildren Jamie Strahan, Dena Wolbrecht, Tiffany Belanger, Scott Goff and Dusty Goff; special friends Jaida Strahan and Brayden Wilson and many other friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Alma Dickerson Cowart, parents Joseph A. and Eunice Freeman Cowart, brother Burnice Cowart and nephew Joe Green.

She was preceded in death by her father, W. R. "Little Bill" Havard.

WEEKEND ACCIDENT CLAIMS TWO, INJURES TWO

Fifteen-year-old Jourdan Cooper and Richard Lee 35, were killed when the Jeep Cherokee in which they were riding overturned about 5 p.m. Saturday. Bother were from Lucedale.
Two other Lucedale men in the vehicle were hospitalized at University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile......
The four were eastbound on U.S. 98 about 5 p.m., a half-mile west of Mississippi 63, when the Jeep Cherokee left the right side of the road. The driver over-corrected and came back on U.S.98, then rolled several times before stopping in the median on the left side of the road......

Monta Glee was a devoted loving wife, sister and aunt. Her life reflected a giving Christian spirit led by faith, dedication to her family, church and her Lord. This dedication was reflected with many years of service to her church and PEO. The Celebration of her life will be held in the A. She is survived by a son, Johnny F. Obit: William E. (Bill) Counselman, age 78, woke up in heaven on the morning of April 11, 2011. He was born January 1, 1933 in Agricola, MS, the youngest son of John F and Leta Mae Counselman. As a teenager, he answered God's call upon his life to be a Minister of the Gospel. He graduated from Mississippi College, Clinton, MS., and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He served churches in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia and Wisconsin. He was a Chaplain at Wisconsin State Prison at Waupun, WI. In 1977, he moved to Florida where he was Chaplain at Sumter Correctional Institution and Apalachee Correctional Institution. He was Chaplain Services Administrator for the Department of Corrections Central Office in Tallahassee for ten years. After retirement, he served as Associate Pastor of Thomasville Road Baptist Church in Tallahassee, FL, before moving to Ocala, FL in 2004. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Belleview, FL.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sylvia Jean Brown Counselman. He is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Counselman of Ocala, a son, William David Counselman (Tracie) of Celebration, a grandson, Kyle David Counselman of Auburndale, a sister, Evelyn Dortch of Gainesville, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Cox was preceded in death by her parents, Edna Lucille Cash and Stephen Bryant, her brother Walter Campbell, Jr. and her husband of 58 years, Allen Cox.
She is survived by four sons, Tommy (Caroline) Cox of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Glen (Carol) Cox of Houston, Texas, Alvin (Nancy) Cox of Lucedale, William "Billy" Cox of San Diego, Calif, and seven daughters, Edna Faye Williams of Mobile, Ala., Margaret (Bobby) Johnston of Leakeville, Lois (Sonny) Dixon of Lucedale, Gwen celic of Salt Lake City, Utah, Robbie (Stanley) Stone of Lucedale, Lanell (Allan) Brock of Lakewood, Colo., Vickie (Stance) Henderson of Lucedale. She leaves behind two sisters, Laura Browning and Bobbie Dueitt, both of Mobile, Ala., 26 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
She was laid to rest in Valhalla Cemetery in Semmes, Ala., following a graveside service November 27, 2006.

He served during World War II in the Navy. Appointed to the Mississippi Game and Fish Commission in 1968, he became chairman in 1971. The owner and operator of Cook Oil and Gas Company since 1955, a Paul Harris Fellow in the Lucedale Rotary Club and a member of the Board of Directors at Century Bank, he died August 15.
He is survived by his wife Lenore "Len" Cook; son Rob (Martha) Cook; granddaughter Leland (John) Klim; grandson Robert (Shannon) Cook; great granddaughter Eleanor Jane Klim; sister Rhetta Lou Dodder; nieces Gail L. Gardner, Lynn Gardner Collins and Jane G. Gould; and nephew Jamie Dodder.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Cecil and Bonnibel (Wood) Cook, Sr.
Memorial donations may be made to Lucedale First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton Elbert Cooley; a son, Alton Lee Cooley; a grandson, Darrell Cooley; a sister, Kate Ott and two half-brothers, William Bexley and Bill Bexley.

Obit: Funeral services were held for Malcolm "Mal" Leadger Cooley, 81, of Lucedale, on Saturday, May 22, 2004, from the Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe, LA.
A commitment ceremony was held in the Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery in Leakesville at 6 p.m. after the funeral. Pallbearers were Joe Mike Ardoin, Ebert Van Buren, Jr., Jim Murphy, Jed Counselman, Chris Tyler and Gregory Ochs. Honorary pallbearers were David Byrd's Parkview Baptist Church Sunday School Class.
He was born on December 27, 1922 in Waynesboro and graduated from Rocky Creek High School in George County.
A loving man who touched everyone in a special way, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He and his wife Ruth were married for 58 years and celebrated their anniversary on May 11.
Mal and Ruth Cooley moved to Monroe, La in 1948 and soon established Cooley Printers. At the time of his death, Mal was still actively involved in the daily operation of their printing business and was an active member in a variety of local organizations.
A U. S. Navy Veteran, he served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II as a coxswain in a Construction Battalion. He was a devoted member and supporter of the Parkview Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the Ushers Committee.
He was one of the founders of the Northeast Louisiana Ad Club, the Monroe Rotary Club, the Purchasing Agents Club and several national printing organizations. He died on May 19, 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Davis Cooley; five daughters, Malva Cooley Rutledge, Rhonda Cooley Counselman, Sharon Cooley Ochs, Cyndi Cooley Cormier and Joy Cooley Ryan; five sons-in-aw, Bobby Rutledge, Jimmy Counselman, Greg Ochs, Larry Cormier and Mike Ryan; nine grandchildren, Jim (Patty) Murphy, Jackie Bryant, Vanessa Van Buren, Ebert Van Buren, Jr., Jessica Counselman, Jed Counselman, Gregory Ochs, Jr., Joni Cormier, Josie Cormier and Madison Ryan; three great grandchildren, Patrick Murphy, Marianna Murphy and Emiley Bryant; step grand and step great grandchildren, Tamara and Jarrett Spurgeon and daughter Brooklyn Rae, Jamie and Cammy Cormier and daughter Courtney, Jarrod Cormier, Jennifer and Casey Levy and daughter Brooklyn and the late Kevin Rutledge's daughters, Emily Rutledge and Claire Rutledge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in the name of Mal Cooley to the Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at the First State Bank in Leakesville.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Cornelson; four sons Rodney Cornelson, Rodney (Latricia) Cornelson, Tommy (Naomi) Cornelson, and George (Amber) Cornelson, all of Leakesville; a daughter Christy (Rich) Pope of Lucedale; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; a brother Dick Cornelson of Butler, Ala; and a sister Sally Jean Rounsaville of Lucedale.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Sally Cornelson; a daughter Cindy James; a sister Johnnie Truitt Lott; and five brothers Sam Cornelson, Earnest Cornelson, Elbert Cornelson, Amos Cornelson, and Fred Cornelson.

Obit: Sean Michael Cooley, born April 18, 1969, was killed in action on February 3, 2005, while serving in Iraq.

A member of the Army National Guard's 150th Combat Engineer Battalion from Lucedale, he was a proud member of the military. He served his country for 14 years. When not on active duty, he worked as a registered nurse at Singing River Hospital.

He will always be remembered as a kind, compassionate man full of life. He was a very hard worker, loved by all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by family, friends, and co-workers. Sean enhanced the lives of all who knew him.

Sean is survived by his wife, Laura Cooley, his parents, Jerry and Kathryn Cooley, his brother, Patrick, his maternal grandfather, Frank Pazos, Jr. and his paternal grandparents Amaziah and Inez Cooley, Uncle Ronnie, Aunt Sherry, Aunt Pam, Aunt Cindy, and cousins Andrew, Monique, Robbie, Wyatt, Zane, Courtney, Sam and Michelle. He is also survived by Laura's parents, Mike and Pat Kehoe, and Laura's sister, Jennifer and husband, Jerry Miller.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Pazos.

Visitation will be Friday, February 11, 2005, from 3-9 PM , at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Saturday, February 12, 2005, there will be a 2 PM church service at Antioch Methodist Church in Lucedale, MS., where friends may call from 11 AM - 2 PM . Burial will be in O'Neal Cemetery in Benndale, MS.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to ones' favorite local charity or to any Century Bank in Moss Point, Vancleave, Hurley or Lucedale where a fund in honor of Sean Michael Cooley has been set up.

He was a native of George County and a resident of the Crossroads community. He was a farmer and a member of Crossroads Methodist Church. He died January 13, 1993 at Biloxi, following a long illness.
He is survived by a twin brother, A. F. "Babe" Cochran of Odessa, Tex.; and one sister, Wilma Mitchell of Hammond, LA. He was preceded in death by Malcolm Cochran, Walter Cochran, Connie Cochran and Harold Owen Cochran.
Conducting the service was Rev. Danny Cochran. Interment was in the Crossroads UMC Cemetery. Fails Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

A resident of Moss Point, he was a member of the Sounds by the Sea choir and a veteran of the U.S. Army. A member of Safe Harbor United Methodist Church, he died June 1, 2006.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mabry Dick Coleman; step father, Dale R. Baker and brother, Leon Coleman.
He is survived by his daughter, Stacy McCord of AZ, mother, Eunice (Blackie) Baker of Escatawpa; two sisters, Dala (John) Prather of Fairview Heights, IL and Jasie (Michael) Faurot of Lucedale; brother, Rick Coleman of CA and numerous friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Safe Harbor United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Obit: James Elvin Cooper, 73, died Sunday, August 25, 2002, at the George County Hospital of heart failure. Visitation was Monday at George County Funeral Home. Services were held Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with Brother Bill Poole from the First United Methodist Church of Lucedale officiating. Graveside services were held at Magnolia Cemetery with full Military honors conducted by the Lucedale National Guard Unit with former retirees from the unit serving as Honorary Pallbearers.
Mr. Cooper was born August 4, 1929, in Ross Hill to the late James Otis and Carrie Pearl Henry Cooper. He was married for 48 years to Lucille West Cooper. He was a fun-loving person who loved his family, friends and his dog, Bear. James was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and uncle who will be greatly missed by his family. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and spending time with friends at Hardee's and the Handi-Korner.
Mr. Cooper retired from the ALCOA Company of Mobile, AL as a full-time mechanic with thirty-one years of service. He served in the united states Army, as well as serving in the Mississippi National Guard, retiring after almost 30 years as an E-7 out of the Lucedale Unite. He also worked as a dispatcher for the George County Sheriff's Office and was a lifetime member of the Benevolent Order of Elks #1120, Pascagoula.
He leaves to cherish his memory a wife, Lucille West Cooper of Lucedale, who cared selflessly and lovingly for him as his health deteriorated, two dear sisters, Leatrice Baker and her husband, Arthur, of Meridian, and Lucille Reed of Mobile, AL; his brother, George Cooper of Mobile, AL. devoted nieces and nephews; other relatives and many wonderful friends.

Also surviving are his mother, Lucy Cowart of Lucedale; a sister Dianne Brown of Lucedale; three brothers, Danny Cowart of Biloxi and Johnny Cowart and Dennis Cowart, both of Lucedale; his grandfather, Chester Howell of Lucedale and a stepdaughter, Kasey Johnson of Lucedale.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward O Cowart; a brother, Michael W. Cowart and grandparents, H. T. Cowart, Rivana Cowart and Jessie Howell.
Services were conducted by Revs. Steve Howell and Sammie Chisolm. Interment was in the Progress Cemetery in McLain, with Fails Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

After graduating the the University of Southern Mississippi in 1970 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology, he was employed as a youth court counselor at Harrison County Family Court System until 1999. An active member, deacon, Sunday School teacher, Superintendent and choir member of Bible Baptist Church, he died April 1, 2006.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca "Becky" Rester Collins; three sisters, Kathi (Willard) Tannehill, Margaret (Carroll) Brooks and Jacqulyn (John) Wolf; a sister-in-law, Brenda Rouse Collins Younge, four nephews, three nieces and three great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Harvey Collins, Sr. and Clara Beatrice Stephens Collins and a brother, George Harvey Collins, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Bible Baptist Church, 12200 Dedeaux Road, Gulfport, MS 39503.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Irene Carter and two sisters, Roxie Beasley and Edna Schuck.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Conner, Sr.; three brothers, Guy E. Welford, William M. Welford and Vernon Welford; and one sister, Inez O'Brien.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Greene (Robert) Williams of Ocean Springs; two sons and daughter-in-law, Walter Warren (Peggy) Greene of Gautier, and James M. 'Butch' Conner of Saudi Arabi; one brother, Ollin W. Welford of Lucedale; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 27, 2001, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Monday, May 28, 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Vancleave with the Rev. Greg Potts officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to service.
