A school bus driver for the George County School System, she died December 28. She was born August 5, 1931.
She is survived by her son Lemuel (Becky) Hembree; grandchildren Jimmy Don (Dallas) Brooks, Dawn (Rob) Barnett and Rusty Hembree; great grandchildren Chasity Rose (Zachary) Eubanks, Robby Burnett, Daren Burnett, Garet Burnett, Lela Marie Burnett and Jacob Levin Brooks; Great great grandchildren Braxton Eubanks and Tynlee Eubanks; sister Annie Jane Elder and brother Charles (Shirley) McClure.
She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Byron "Pat" Hembree, daughter Rose Marie Brooks, parents William M and Daisy J (Dungan)(Dunnegan) McClure and seven brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lester W. and Emma (Snipes) Giles and brothers Wade Giles, Charlie Paul Giles and Bo Giles.

Obit: Mrs. Orell R. Hedgepeth age 74 of Lucedale, MS went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday July 10, 2013. Born November 11, 1938 in Mobile County, AL, to the late Coleman C. and Orell Carpenter Rouse, she had been a resident of George County since 1945. In 1956, she married the love of her life Reverend H.J. Hedgepeth and together, they faithfully served churches in the Mississippi United Methodist Conference for 41 years before returning home to Lucedale, MS. In retirement they served Grace United Methodist Church and Vernal Presbyterian Church where she also served as choir director. Mrs. Hedgepeth loved gardening and especially her day lilies. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Reverend H.J. Hedgepeth and one brother Reverend Bertist Rouse.
Among her survivors are two sons Reverend Mitchell Hedgepeth and his wife Catherine of Brandon, MS, Michael Hedgepeth and his wife Joanna of Biloxi, MS; two daughters Jacky Sparks and her husband Larry of Oxford, MS, Rendy Foster and her husband Jerry of Ocean Springs, MS; eleven grandchildren Jessi Prestage and her husband Danny, Laura Shoemaker and her husband Steve, Tyler Sparks, Pam Ware and her husband Barry, Will Hedgepeth, Jakob Hedgepeth and his wife Bonnie, Kreszenz Hedgepeth, Christopher Hedgepeth, Heather Hedgepeth, Rylee Foster, Kaylee Foster; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 12, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Lucedale, MS, from 6 to 9 PM.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM from First United Methodist Church in Lucedale with Rev. Chris Cumbest and Rev. Shelia Cumbest officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Lucedale. Those who desire to make memorial contributions may do so to the charity or church of their choice.

She is survived by her son David Michael (Patricia) Henderson of Lucedale; grandchildren Chris Henderson, David Henderson, Kim Hatten, Lindsey Henderson, Sara Henderson and Spencer Henderson; great-grandchildren Aubry, Austin, Maranda, Megan, Michael, Noah and Haidyn.
She was preceded in death by her husband George Henderson, son Spencer Lavelle Henderson and parents Jerry Jessie and Linnie (Pierce) Clark.

He was a retired Methodist minister and a Mason and Toast Master. He received his Master's degree from Emory University. An Army veteran and retired from the Air Force as a chief master sergeant after thirty years of service, he died February 15, 2010.
He is survived by his children Wayne Hearty, Mae Carl (Sam) Baggett, Farlan Hately and James W. Hately and dear friend Rosa Parker.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jasie Mae Hearty and his parents Johna and Nellie Hearty.

A veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and a member of the faith, he died January 17. During his service in World War II and the Korean Conflict, Lt. Col. Hedegaard received the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal. He served faithfully sixty years of volunteer service after his enlistment in 1948 in the Civil Air Patrol and received many awards and recognitions for his dedicated service as Mockingbird, Civil Air Partol, MARS AFA4JO - Ham Radio AA5R1.
He is survived by his brother Raymond (Barbara) Nygaard of Harleston; sister Else (John) Martin of Hurley; nephews Lee Hedegaard of Lucedale, Brian Martin of Washington, DC, Kevin Martin of Pascagoula, Larry Martin of Bay St. Louis, Randy Nygaard of Harleston, Jay Hodges of Big Point, Richard Hodges and Tim Hodges, both of Lucedale; and nieces Joanna N. (John) Slay of Harleston, Laurie (Rolf) Hennig of Summerville, SC and Celeste Hodges of Mobile, AL.
He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Hedegaard, mother Herdis Laursen Hedegaard Nygaard, father Hans D. Nygaard and brother Harvey W. Hedegaard.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Orell Rouse Hedgepeth; four children, Jacky (Larry) Sparks of Oxford, Rev. Michell (Catherine) Hedgepeth and Rendy (Jerry) Foster, both of Ocean Springs and Michael (Joanna) Hedgepeth of Philadelphia; eleven grandchildren, Jessi (Danny) Prestage, Laura Fortenberry, Tyler Sparks, Pam Bliss, Will Hedgepeth, Jakob Hedgepeth, Kreszenz Hedgepeth, Christopher Hedgepeth, heather Hedgepeth, Rylee Foster and Kaylee Foster; one great grandchild, Bryce Prestage; mother-in-law, Orell Rouse; three sisters, Loaree Robinson, Mary Jones and Annelle (Thomas) Stephens; one brother, Curtis Hedgepeth; and many nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Derrick Henderson, Adam Henderson, Chad Gautier, Robert Gautier, Amon Merritt and Bobby Merritt.
Mrs. Henderson was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer D. Henderson and a son, Rickey D. Henderson.
She is survived by a son, Darnell Henderson of Gulfport; a daughter, Billie Gautier of Hattiesburg; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Destin loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed most of his time with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Howard Hendon, Sr., James Lowell Johnson, Donald Warner Dunn and cousin Yolanda Michelle Boren.
He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Carma Hendon of Vancleave, Wayne and Catherine Johnson of Lucedale; grandparents Bobby and Lois Wilson of Lucedale, Nora Virginia Johnson of Gautier, Rachel Hendon of Laurel, and George and Peggy Goff of Moss Point; six sisters, Kimberly Hall, Shiree Johnson, and Virginia E. Johnson, all of Lucedale, Raina Harris and Jessica Ridgeway of Moss Point, and Jamie Gravely of Douglasville, GA; two brothers, Hayden and Bailee Hendon of Vancleave; one brother-in-law, Shannon Hall of Lucedale; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends. Also survived by Destin is a very special friend, John Fuqua.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 3, at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Jackson County Funeral Services in Escatawpa.
Pallbearers were Shannon Hall, Chris Hyatt, Tommy Clark, Jesse Radcliff, Clayton Rushing, John Fuqua, Keith Hembree and Buffard Havard. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Fallon, Denny and Bo Spence, Joey and Robby Gambrell, Josh Rushing, Matt Reeves and Rusty Franklin.

She chose to donate her body to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for research and donor programs.
A native of New Castle, PA, she was born March 1, 1927. She was a former resident of Walker, LA, and a foster grandparent for Livingston Parish Head Start Program from 1994 until 2001. She was also a former hospice volunteer and a donation recruiter for Paralyzed Veterans Association. She was a loving person who loved to help others and loved life. She always had a positive outlook and a kind word for everyone and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She died on August 14, 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene A. Hendricks.
She is survived by a daughter, Sheila B. (Terry) Davis of Lucedale; three grandchildren, Lori A. Brown (Edmund) LeBlanc of Baton Rouge, LA, Larry E. (Laurie) Brown, Jr., of Brusly, LA, and Sherry Davis (Pat) Pilkington of Lucedale; and six great grandchildren, Kirsten Brown, Carleigh Brown, Dylan Brown, Hanna LeBlanc, Kori Pilkington and Karli Pilkington.

As a homemaker, mother and minister's wife, she lived a life of service to others and over the years developed a reputation of being the perfect minister's wife. For 51 years J.K. and Callie served Methodist Churches in and around Ovett, Bonita, DeKalb, Purvis, Waynesboro, Biloxi and Leaksville.
She is survived by one sister, Olga McLeod of Lucedale; Her children, Pat Woods of Mobile, Ron Hegwood of Hattiesburg; Neil Douglas of Gatlinburg and Kerry Hegwood of Mobile.
She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchilren.
Visitation and the funeral will be held Wednesday, Oct 7, 2009 at the Pine Grove Methodist Church located in the Broome Community in George County, MS.

They have 3 children: Justin Edward (13) Dylan Jase (5) and Haley Elizabeth (5).
He will also be dearly missed by his mother Peggy (Jimmy) Pursell, brother John C. Henderson, Jr. and sister Teresa (John) Cooper, in-laws Eddie and Jan Ezell, Jason (Jennifer) Ezell, Tessa (Tony) May and grandmother Rozelle Langele; nieces and nephews Lyndee Holland, Kindee Kinchen, Johnathan and Chandler Rhymes, Brittany & Kallie Ezell, Macie Claire, Colin and Landry May. Brian will be sadly missed by numerous friends, family and co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his father John Henderson and grandmothers Dora Dickson and Louise Henderson.
A memorial service will be held for Brian in Mobile, Ala. at Cottage Hill Baptist Church, Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Obit: Spencer Lavelle Henderson Age 50 of Lucedale, MS passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010. Lavelle, as he was known by the community, was a Funeral Director Assistant at George County Funeral Home and manager of Lucedale Memorial Company. He was a former director of City of Lucedale Public Works; former manager of B & M Precision Lube and former owner of CarQuest. He was also a former officer with the George County Sheriff's Department; former Assistant Chief of Police with Lucedale Police Department and former employee with George County Hospital Ambulance Service. He is survived by his wife, Paula Henderson; three sons, David (Sierra) Henderson, Spencer (Ashley) Henderson and Cecil (Pamela) Cameron; two grandchildren, Emily Ruth Coleman and Chandler Garry Cameron; his mother, Helen Henderson and brother, Mike (Patricia) Henderson all of Lucedale, MS. He was preceded in death by his father, George D. Henderson. Visitation will be held Friday, February 5, 2010 from 6 to 10 pm in the Chapel of George County Funeral Home. His Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 6th at 11am at George County Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Hoyt officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. He died October 15, 1993 at his residence after a lengthy illness.

Officiating at the services were Rev. Alton Stokes and Dr. Bryce Evans. Interment was in the Finch Cemetery with George County Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Robert Hammac, Jared Brannan, Scott Berry, Mike Davis, Jimmy Lawson and Bo Bolling. Honorary pallbearers were Gordon Davis, Gerald Brannan, Thad Davis and Johnny Porter.

Obit: Nelson E. "Ned" Hembree, 71, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2006, at George County Hospital in Lucedale.
Born in Mobile, Ala., he was the son of the late Daniel Andrew and the late Julie Vermell (Lee) Hembree. He served in the Mississippi National Guard.
He was a retired lineman, employed by Singing River Electric. Mr. Hembree was a member of Missionary Baptist Faith.
His wife, Lora Annette McLeod Hembree, preceded Ned in death.
Survivors include his sons, Ronald (Debbie) Hembree, Donald (Tonya) Hembree, Chris (Deana) Hembree; daughter, Sandra (Dwight) Showles; granddaughters, Shelly (Duane) Stringer, Marie (Doug) Allgood, Stephanie Hembree, Ann Hembree, Meagan (Dan) Futtrell; grandsons, Keith Hembree, Matthew Hembree, Joshua Showles, and great-grandchildren Bailey Allgood, Tyler Davis, Kase Allgood, Warren Stringer and Jacob Stringer,

She is survived by her husband James Hembree of Lucedale; three sons, Wesley (Lois) Hembree of Kansas City, MO., Yancy (Tawana) Hembree of Desert Springs, and Lex (Barbara) Hembree of Gulf Crest, IL.; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four brothers, Edward (Helen) Ford, John (Ethel) Ford, Donald (Joann) Ford, and James H. Ford; and a sister Evelyn (Allen) McLeod.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward Currie and Retha May (Sanford) Ford and her brother Aaron Ford.

Obit: Funeral services for Gordon Elwood Hempstead, 67, of Mobile, Ala., were held June 18 at 11 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home Chapel in Mobile.
He was a native of Lucedale, but had resided in Mobile for many years. He was a retired mechanic with the U.S. Coast Guard and a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of Azalea Masonic Lodge No. 898.
Mr. Hempstead died June 14, 1994 in a Mobile hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Cinda Bonita Williams Hempstead of Mobile; a daughter, Debbie Hempstead Mathis of Mobile; a son, Terrell Elwood Hempstead, Sr. of Mobile; and two grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Bonnie H. Kirkland and Euna Ellicott, both of Mobile and Billie Roper of Lucedale.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ed Keys. Interment was in Mobile Memorial Gardens with Radney Funeral Home of Mobile in charge of arrangements.
Masonic graveside services were conducted by the Azalea Masonic Lodge No. 898 with Ill. Kenny Chastain, 33rd Degree, presiding.
Honorary pallbearers were W. R. Kirkland, Jimmy Ellicott, Jim Ellicott, W. O. Williams, J. D. Williams, Chuck Wallace, Jim Byrd and Jeff Landry. Active pallbearers were member of the Azalea Masonic Lodge No. 898 and included Herman L. Smith, Charles W. Rabby, Jim E. Allen, Aubrey Price, Pat Patterson, Jerry Lollar, Marcus Lambert, Walter C. Erdman, Jr., Paul Layne and Curtis L. Haas.
