Obit: Mrs. Flora Crocker, age 82, a native and resident of Leakesville, MS died, Saturday July 14, 2012 in Lucedale, MS.

Mrs. Crocker was a retired seamstress and a member of Mount Pisgah United Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by three sons; Gene Raymond Crocker, James Carvin Crocker, both of Leakesville, MS and Anthony Wayland Crocker of Lucedale, MS, three daughters; Helen Ruth McLeod, of Leakesville, Judy Ann Bullock of Saraland, AL and Darlene Stewart of Lucedale, MS, three brothers; Ray Miller, Truman Miller both of Leakesville, and Innis Miller of Grand Bay, AL, one sister, Dora Jean Bradley of Lucedale, MS, seventeen Grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

A wake will be held Monday, July 16, 2012 from 6 pm until at Mount Pisgah United Pentecostal Church. The 2 pm Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Church with Rev. Karl Causey and Rev. Randy Miller officiating.

Interment will be at the Mount Pisgah Church Cemetery.

A member of Vernal Presbyterian Church, she died June 20. She was born October 20, 1923.

She is survived by her son Johnny (Jo Lynn) McLeod of Laurel; daughters Vickie (Jimmy) King of Vernal, Shelia (Mike) Savage of Fruitdale, Ala., Mary Alice Dearman of Vernal, Marie (Mike) Mizell of Leakesville, Sharon (Paul) Hannon of Panama City, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister Velma McLeod; and brother Oliver Dueitt.

She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd McLeod, son Reginald McLeod and parents Patrick Dueitt and Mary E. Lott Dueitt.

Pallbearers included Jason Mizell, Jeremy Mizell, Jonathan Mizell, Hunter McLeod, Bryan Dearman and Justin Hicks.

She was a graduate of Mississippi College for Women, and taught elementary school for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband David Birchenall; her parents Bodo and Lula Lee Hillman; and her sister Virginia Hillman.

She is survived by many cousins and a host of close friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday May 2, 2014 at 3pm at Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Dennis Cochran officiating.

A member of the Baptist faith, she died December 21. She was born September 23, 1922 in Greene County. She worked various jobs, but her primary job was as a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters Vera B. Williams of Pfafftown, N.C., Vermel B. Burkhart of Olathe, Kan., Barbara D. (Raymond) Walker, Shirley F. Cooley, both of Benndale and Lula K (Tommy) Burnett of Lucedale; sons Willie A. (Sandye) Brown of Pickwick, Tenn. and Troy H. (Mary) Brown of Lucedale; 16 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Evon Brown and Austin Rogers, son Lewis Lavon Brown, son-in-law E.D. Williamson, granddaughters Daphne Havard and Laura Lucille Brown and great-granddaughter Kristin Havard.

Pallbearers included Joseph Brown, Jacob Brown, Larry Beauchamp, Casey Potter, Luke Schwarz and Greg Havard.

Obit: Mr. Morris " Jack" Everett, 83, a resident of Greene County, MS passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at Providence Hospital in Mobile, AL.

Mr. Everett was born on June 12, 1930 in Washington County, AL. He was a member of Pilgrims Rest Missionary Baptist Church. He started his career working for Alabama Power shortly after graduating from Leakesville High School. After twelve years, he took a job with Poly Engineering Company in engineering and construction for sixteen years. He finished his career by retiring as Director of South Alabama Utilities after twenty years at the age of 69.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Pearl (Gardner) Everett, parents; Dave and Liday Everett, brothers; Dick Everett, Wesley (Lula) Everett, Ernest (Lilly May) Everett and Wiley Everett, sisters; Hett (Oscar) Dixon and Nancy (Talt) Beard.

He is survived by his two sons; Jimmie D. (Vickie) Everett, John (Marie) Everett, both of Leakesville, MS, two daughters; Eva Moody of Bay Minette, AL, Carol (Steve) Ladner of Leakesville, MS, thirteen grandchildren; Josh (Maygan) Everett, Susan (Scott) Brocious, Emily Everett, Paul Moody, David Moody, Caleb Ladner, Andrew Ladner, Brandon Ladner, Stephanie Ladner, Morris Ray Everett, Taylor Everett, Jasper Everett and Travis Everett,six great grandchildren; Lily, Lydia and Jacob Everett, Zane and Jase Brocious, and Daniel Moody. Survivors also include a host of nieces, nephews and long time childhood friend, Dorvan Turner.

The Wake will be Monday, June 24, 2013 from 6 pm until at Pilgrims Rest Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 2 pm Tuesday, June 25 2013 at the Church with Rev. Darnell Minyard officiating.

Interment will be in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.

Mr. Denmark was retired as a Materials and Purchasing specialist at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula and a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah United Pentecostal Church. He also served on the Green County School Board for over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David R. and Ella Vee Denmark and a sister, Barbara Vess.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Denmark of Leakesville; sons, Shannon Denmark and Jared Denmark, both of Leakesville; step-daughter, KaKella Coaker of Leakesville; step-sons, Bill Coaker of Gulfport and Jason Cooley of Leakesville.
Visitation for Mr. Denmark will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church.

Pastor Phillip Williams will officiate the service. Interment will be in the McInnis Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 5, 2013, from 6-9 p.m. at George County Funeral Home in Lucedale.
Mr. McInnis, born March 16, 1934, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a coach and teacher at Stone County High School and Leakesville High School.
Mr. McInnis served four terms as a Representative for George, Greene, Stone and Perry counties in the Mississippi State Legislature.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie W. and Ila Churchwell McInnis. He was the 12th of 13 children.
Survivors include his former wife, Kay Williams McInnis of Leakesville; children, Rhonda Jahns, San Antonio, Texas, Denise (Skip Golding) Bruno of Ocean Springs, Malcolm (Wanda) McInnis of Texarkana, Texas; six grandchildren, Jenea Britton, Ria
Pitalo, Michael Bruno, Tyler McInnis, Alex Jahns, and Allison Jahns; two greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Janelle Crow and Mary Katherine Howell; a brother, Sam McInnis; brother-in-law, Billy Copeland; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the wife of the late James Lawrence Taylor.

School in Leakesville, and served as a substitute teacher in Lucedale. Later, she worked for a brief time at the George County Library. Her main
focuses were raising five children and serving her church and community. She was active in the First United Methodist Church of Lucedale; serving as President of the United Methodist Women, a longtime member of the Dorcus Circle, and Sunday School teacher for the Upper Room Bible Class. Mrs. Taylor was one of the oldest members of this church. She was a member of Lucedale Woman's Club (a division of Mississippi Federation of Women's Clubs), serving as President and was active in local and state Club projects. Mrs. Taylor served as President of Lucedale PTA. For many years, Mrs. Taylor served as a "Pink Lady" for the George County Hospital. Additionally, she was a member of the Lucedale Declaration of Independence Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution, where she served as Regent and a Delegate.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her daughters, Rosemary Williams (H.L. Jr. "Sandy) of Corinth, MS; Sherry Lane Carpenter (Wayne O.) of Germantown, TN; her sons, James Lawrence Taylor, Jr. (Jelna) of Lucedale, MS; Joe Howard Taylor (Belinda) of Lucedale, MS; Harold Gregory Taylor (Becky) of Holly Springs, MS; and seven grandchildren, Virginia Lane Yoder, Harry Lee Williams, III, Wayne O'Brian Carpenter, Jr., Kimberly Rene Davis, Heather Leigh Taylor, Sandra Leigh Penick, and Anna Britton Lidbom. She also leaves ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held today, Saturday, November 26, 2011, from 10 to 11 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church of Lucedale. The Memorial Service will begin at 11 A.M. with Rev. Jeff Pruett officiating. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. He is also survived by three brothers, Ralph Baxter of Leakesville, Roland Baxter of Escatawpa and Otis Baxter of Deerpark, Ala. and two sisters, Elizabeth Harvison of Lucedale and Daisy Summers of Leakesville and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Lee Baxter and four grandchildren.
Interment was held at Oak Waukie (Okwakee) Cemetery in Deerpark, Ala., with Rev. M. L. Dykes officiating the services.
Honorary pallbearers were grandsons, Elmer Harvison, Phillip Henderson, Walter David and William Davis.

Interment followed in the Whites Chapel Cemetery in Vernal.

She married Ennis Lee Rainwater on June 1, 1938 and was a homemaker for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held March 15, 2010 at 4:00 pm from Tanner Williams United Methodist Church, Tanner Williams Road, Mobile, AL. Visitation will follow the funeral service, from 5:00-7:00pm at Tanner Williams UMC.

Interment will be in the Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Rev. Larry Dishman and Rev. Ray C. Lane Jr. will conduct the services.

of Mobile, Alabama for more than 60 years. She was a former employee of the
Mobile Housing Board and enjoyed a long and happy retirement in Saraland,
being a grandmother, watching CNN and discussing politics (she was a
life-long Democrat), and working difficult cipher and crossword puzzles. She
was a member of the Saraland United Methodist Church. She is survived by her
daughter, Barbara Gail Bouler Mason of Huntsville, AL.; her son, Nicholas
(Nick) Bouler of Birmingham; a granddaughter, Alissa Lufkin Bouler of
Houston, TX.; two grandsons, Derek Mason and Jared Mason, both of
Huntsville, AL.; and a great-granddaughter, Francesca Noelle Mason of
Huntsville, AL. A memorial service will be held at Freeman Funeral Home in
Leakesville, MS., on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at 2:00p.m. The family
will receive visitors at the church prior to the service. Interment will be
in the Alderman family plot, McLeod - Magnolia Cemetery, in Leakesville. In
lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Building Fund, Saraland
(Alabama) United Methodist Church or to the Democratic Party. Arrangements

Obit: Obit: Funeral services were held Friday, September 26, at 11:00 a.m. from Freeman Funeral Home Chapel in Leakesville for Arthur Beard, 96, of Leakesville, who died Tuesday, September 23, 1997.

Interment was in Clark's Chapel Cemetery in State Line.

Mr. Beard was a native of Greene County and a resident of Brookwood Manor Nursing Center for several years. He was a retired farmer, carpenter and mill superintendent. He was a member of East Salem Baptist Church and the Leakesville Masonic Lodge, where he was the recipient of the 50 year pin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lettie Bell Clark Beard. Mr. Beard was the son of the late Thomas Wirt Beard and Agnes Turner Beard who were also natives of Greene County.
Survivors include one son, Arthur O'Gwynn (Almedia)Beard of Smyrna, GA.; one daughter, Mae Ola Beard (Neil)Holder of Clinton, MS.; one sister, Lucille Beard Copeland, Clinton, MS.; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Name of Deceased: Denny, Walter

Obit: Moss Point, Miss., March 30 - Hon. Walter Denny, president of the firm of W. Denny & co., lumber manufacturers, died at 11:15 p.m. yesterday, aged 76 years. Mr. Denny was for ten years sheriff of Greene county before the war, and served Jackson county in the legislature from 1859 to 1862, and he established the lumber business here in 1853, and sicne then has been one of the leaders in the lumber trade of the South. He was buried at 3 p.m. today by Pascagoula Lodge A.F. and A.M., of which he had been an honored member for years. All business was practically suspended here today in consequence of the loss of this honored citizen.
