January 20, 1881

Last Friday a brakeman named William Hinson of Jackson fell from a  freight car near Manchec, La., and was fatally injured.


February 17, 1881

The Rev. W. H. Watkins of the Methodist Church died at Jackson on the 5th inst. after a long illness.


February 17, 1881

John Rohrbacher, Sr., formerly of Jackson, died in Germany a few days since.


March 31, 1881

George W. Gibbs, one of the oldest merchants at Raymond, died on the 26th inst.


April 14, 1881

Mrs. McCain, mother-in-law of State Treasurer Hemingway, died in Jackson on the 10th inst.


May 5, 1881

J. W. Robinson of Jackson died last Wednesday of pneumonia.  he was a senior partner of the house of Robertson & Stevens, and the principle owner of the Edwards House.
