Peter Todd Disappearance

Peter Todd, surveyor of Jones county, has mysteriously disappeared from his accustomed haunts, and his whereabouts is a mystery to his family and friends. Mr. Todd was last seen on Tuesday of last week, when he left home, presumably to look after his daily duties in connection with his farm near Soso. When he failed to return Tuesday night, his wife naturally supposed that he had been called off on an urgent official or business errand, and no uneasiness was felt until he failed to return at the end of the week. The matter was then reported to neighbors and friends and a search for the missing man has since been in progress. Mr. Todd is one of the most popular citizens of Jones county and was for many years a leading merchant of Soso. In his race for county surveyor last summer he defeated two popular opponents in the Democratic primaries. On the first Monday in January, at Ellisville, he filed his official bond and took the oath of office, apparently proud of the distinction of having been admitted to the official family of the county. It is said that Mr. Todd has had some business reverses during the past year, and that he had worried a great deal over financial matters. This fact has caused his family some worry, especially in view of the fact that he had been at times inclined to despondency.
