SWEPT BY A BABY HURRICANE

Mississippi Town Shattered and Several Hurt

McCoomb (sic) City, Miss., July 12 - A terrible wind and rain storm struck this city at 5 p. m. today, fatally injuring two persons, injuring more or less seriously four others and blowing down and unroofing (sic) several small buildings.  A crowd that had been witnessing a base ball (sic) game sought shelter under a gallery, which was blown down a few minutes later, burying the people beneath it and fatally injuring Willie Kuntzmann and a negro man named Andrew Johnson, while Jno. Dykes had both legs broken.

H. C. Herzog had an arm broken and was badly bruised about the head and shoulders.  Two of Herzog's sons were also badly bruised. [Morning World Herald, Omaha, Neb. - July 13, 1901, page 3]
