James Mc Cord, pioneer merchant of Northwest Missouri, one of St. Joseph's wealthy citizens, died at the family home at 7 55 o'clock last night of cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. McCord was stricken Sunday night and lingered in unconsciousness until his death. He is survived by his wife and seven children.
James McCord was born in Albemarle County, Virginia, in 1826. His family was one of the oldest in Virginia. On his maternal side he was a descendant of Colonel John Fields.
James McCord was left fatherless and practically penniless at the age of 14 years. The splendid fortune accumulated by him was amassed by aggressive, through honest and conservative business methods.
Mr. McCord's fortune is estimated at between 3 million and 5 million.
The children are James H. and Samuel S. McCord, Mrs. J.H. Parker and Miss Susan McCord; Robert H. McCord; George L McCord, Francis McCord; Mrs. J. Bennett Collins. All of the sons are actively engaged in the mercantile business. The funeral arraignments have not been completed. The funeral probably will be Sunday or Monday.St. Joseph Mo.  H.B. McDonald, St. Joseph Mo. Dec 1-  Died at age 73 years old and one of the wealthiest residents of Andrew County, Missouri, died at his home near Savannah today. he was a brother of R.L. McDonald, the pioneer St. Joseph merchant and manufacturer.

Obit: Died, --John Montgomery, of Bolckow, aged 84 years, died Sunday last at his residence.  He had been a resident of this county for nineteen years, and was originally from Monroe County, Ohio.  He was an upright and highly esteemed citizen, and leaves a widow, the partner of his long life, a family of six children, all grown, and quite a number of grand-children. --Savannah Patron.
