Granville Clifford Bradley Family

Most of this came from descendants of Granville Clifford Bradley, but can be verified by census and local records in Bates & Callaway Co., Mo.

Granville Clifford Bradley was b. 8/17/1805 in Scott Co., Ky. he was the son of Thomas Poe Bradley and Frances Bush, who migrated from Scott Co., Ky. to Callaway Co., Mo.
Granville Clifford Bradley married Mariah Meiser West on 3/24/1824 in Scott Co., Ky. Mariah was born in about 1800 in Md. she was the daughter of William West. Her mother is unknown.
Granville and Mariah had the following children:
1. William Thomas Bradley b. 2/16/1825, Georgetown, Scott Co., Ky. d. ?
2. James Newton Bradley b. 6/12/1826, Georgetown, Scott Co., Ky. d. 1/29/1914, Papinville, Bates Co., Mo. m. Martha Ann Branham 10/27/1852 in Callaway Co., Mo. (Martha Ann Branham was the daughter of Lucy Ann Eliza Bradley (sister of Granville Clifford Bradley) and her husband Thomas Branham). James Newton and Martha Ann had one child, Eugene Bradley. Much more information on James Newton Bradley will come in a later e-mail. He was a Major in the Confederate Army and served in the Mo. legislature.
3. Granville Clifford Bradley, Jr. b. 9/1/1827, Georgetown, Scott Co., Ky. died as an infant date unknown.
4. Roger Pendleton Bradley b. 11/3/1828, Georgetown, Scott Co., Ky. d. 8/16/1862, Lonejack, Jackson Co., Mo. Roger was a Captain in the Confederate Army and was killed on his first day in battle at the Battle of Lonejack. He was known as "Pen". The names of both Roger and his brother James Newton appear at the Lonejack Memorial.
5. John Volney Bradley I b. 12/03/1829, Georgetown, Scott Co., Ky. d. 5/7/1913, Grant's Pass, Josephine Co., Or., married Cynthia Subrena Tipton 3/22/1857, Roseburg, Douglas Co., Or.
6. Albertus Valentine Bradley b. 4/13/1931, Georgetown, Scott Co., Ky. d. 10/16/1876, Papinville, Bates Co., Mo. m. Catherine V. Quay 4/10/1856 in Mo.
7. Doctor Lee Bradley b. 1/8/18363. Callaway Co., Mo. d. 8/2/1862, Clear Creek, Vernon Co., Mo. ( Doctor was his given name, not a professional title) he was killed in battle at Clear Creek in the Civil War.
8. Augustine P. Bradley b. 6/27/1834, Callaway Co., Mo. d. ?
9. Eliza Ann Bradley b. 11/27/1835, Callaway Co., Mo. d. 3/23/1912, Papinville Co., Mo.
10. Joel W. Bradley b. 9/15/1837, Callaway Co., Mo. d. 7/12/1856, Papinville, Bates Co., Mo.
11. Benjamin Franklin Bradley b. 3/26/1839, Callaway Co., Mo. d. 5/26/1876, Papinville, Bates Co., Mo. Known as " Blue Ben" because of a heart condition.
12. Andeville M. Bradley b. 2/12/1842, Callaway Co., Mo., d. before 1850 in Mo.
13. Mary Frances Bradley b. 5/12/2843, Callaway Co., Mo. d. 5/12/1866, Papinville, Bates Co., Mo.
14. Dudley Orear Bradley, Sr. b. 3/31/1847, Callaway Co., Mo. d. 9/17/1931, Butler, Bates Co., Mo. m. 2/7/1877,Louisa Shockey in Bates Co., Mo.


Eugene and Ida Alice Penney Bradley

Eugene Bradley was b. 9/5/1854 in Platte Co., Mo. Eugene was the son and only child of Major James Newton Bradley and Martha Ann Branham.
Eugene Bradley d. on 12/11/1925 in Bates Co., Mo. and is buried in Papinville Cemetery, Papinville, Mo. Eugene Bradley m. Ida Alice Penney on 5/12/1880 in Bates Co., Mo.
Ida Alice Penney was b. 7/2/1857 in Allegheny Co., N.Y. and d. 3/4/1934 in Papinville, Bates Co., Mo. Ida is buried in the Papinville Cemetery, Papinville, Bates Co., Mo. Ida Alice Penney was the daughter of Charles Wesley Penney and Maryetta Reynolds.

Eugene Bradley and Ida Alice Penney had the following children:

1. Benjamin N. Bradley b. 6/20/1881 in Papinville, Bates Co., Mo. d. 10/28/1884 in Papinville, Bates Co., Mo. Benjamin Bradley is buried in Papinville Cemetery, Bates Co., Mo.
2. Charles Clifford Bradley b. 1/7/1883, Papinville, Bates Co., Mo. d. 7/14/1955, Nevada, Vernon Co., Mo. m. 10/17/1912 Naomi Clinkenbeard.b. 11/23/1891, d. 12/12/1973
3. Franklin Penny Bradley b. 3/11/1884 in Bates Co., Mo., d. 12/20/1954 in Bates Co., Mo. m. Sarah Jane Godfrey on 10/12/1915. Sarah Jane Godfrey was b. 6/12/1891 and d. 7/22/1980. Both Franklin and Sarah are buried in Papinville Cemetery, Papinville, Bates Co., Mo.
4. Mabel Delaney Bradley b. 2/28/1886 in Bates Co., Mo. d. 1/11/1967 in Tulsa, Tulsa Co., Ok. m. 11/15/1906 Edgar Freeman Hirni in Bates Co., Mo. Edgar Freeman Hirni was b. 6/9/1882 and d. 9/27/1964 in Tulsa, Tulsa Co., Ok.
5. Edward Bradley b. 4/20/1888, Bates Co., Mo. d. 11/27/1949 in Butler, Bates Co., Mo. m. 10/14/1914 in Bates Co., Mo. Dixie Lucille Smith. b. 8/1/1894 in Rockville, Bates Co., Mo. and d. in 1977. Both Edward and Dixie are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler, Bates Co., Mo.
6. Giles Bradley b. 11/20/1890 in Bates Co., Mo. d. 10/20/1892 in Bates Co., Mo. buried in Papinville Cemetery, Papinville, Bates Co., Mo.
7. unknown female Bradley b. 11/20/1893 Bates Co., Mo. d. 11/20/1893 Bates Co., Mo. buried Papinville Cemewtery, Papinville, Mo.
