The community was founded in 1908. Named from the city of Arab, Alabama. It was originally located in Wayne County

Marble Hill is the county seat - The city was established in 1842 as New California. It was renamed Dallas in 1851. In 1868, the names was changed to Marble Hill. This was to prevent confusion between the city and Dallas County, MO.
