Negroes' School Right in Court
Columbia, MO. - Circuit Judge W. M. Dinwiddie is expected to rule this month on the mandamus suit of Floyd Gaines, St. Louis Negro, to compel the University of Missouri to admit him in as a law student. The University has not admitted a colored student in its 100 years of existence. Gaines, backed by the national Association for the Advancement of Colored People, claims the state law providing separate institutions for white and colored students is unconstitutional and that the case will be carried to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.
