NICHOLS, GREEN
Green Nichols died at his home in Howard County, Thursday morning from cancer of the stomach. He is survived by a wife and sister. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. A. M. Lindsey of Clinton at the First Christian Church.

Obit: Hollis E. Nichols, 61, of the Ashland community died at his home Saturday at 3:30 p.m. of an apparent heart attack. He had been in failing health for several months. Mr. Nichols was born March 13, 1914 near Ashland, a son of the late James Thomas and Lydia Purcell Nichols. He married the former Flora Johnson on July 19, 1941. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Germany and France three years. Mr. Nichols had been a construction worker in this area for 22 years. He was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Flora; three sons, Edward Anthony Nichols and Morris Nichols both of Ashland; Berry Nichols of Hartsburg; one daughter, Mrs. Glora Baysinger of Ashland; five brothers, Waldo Nichols, Kenneth Nichols and Spencer Nichols, all of Ashland; Harry Nichols of Hallsville, Larry Nichols of North Carolina; six grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Burnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Miller of Moberly officiating. Burial was in New Salem Cemetery, Highway 63, north of Ashland.


Kenneth Nichols of Ashland Dies (Boone)
Ashland (Special) – Kenneth Joseph Nichols, 46, of Ashland died unexpectedly at 2 p.m. Wednesday, apparently of a heart attack, while working on the new General Telephone Co. building in Ashland.
Mr. Nichols was a construction foreman.
He was born Nov. 4, 1919 west of Ashland to Charles E. and Dixie Wren Nichols. He was married to Miss Irma Sapp on June 14, 1941. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Everrett Hazel of Hartsburg; a granddaughter; six sisters, Mrs. Ballard Watson and Mrs. Wallace Jones, both of Hartsburg, Mrs. Harold G. Nichols, Mrs. Sammie Meng, Mrs. L.L. Harmon and Mrs. Ezra Harmon, all of Ashland; two brothers, Rothie Nichols of Columbia and Leonard Nichols of Ashland.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today at an Ashland funeral chapel with Elder Cecil Bennett of the Woodcrest Primitive Baptist Church of Ashland officiating.
Burial was in the New Liberty Cemetery southwest of Ashland.

Obit: Louie Dale "Boxcar" Nowlin, 60, of Columbia died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Columbia Regional Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at Nelson Funeral Home with Elder Marvine Tolle officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at the funeral home. Mr. Nowlin was born May 16, 1940, in Wilton to Louie Bradshaw and Lydia Darrell Nowlin. He married Wanda Coffman on April 3, 1962. He later married Marilyn Carter on June 23, 1995, in Columbia, and she survives. He served in the Army from 1959-1961. He was formerly employed with the city of Columbia, American Press and Kribb's 63 and was most recently employed with Albert Buick-Honda. Survivors include his stepfather, Charles Barkwell of Ashland; four sons, Ricky Nowlin of Hallsville, Robert Nowlin of Ashland and Randy Nowlin and Daniel Nowlin, both of Columbia; a daughter, Linda Griggs of Columbia; four stepchildren, Dawn Wade, Deanna Fox, Dale Griggs and Dalette Griggs, all of Columbia; two brothers, Marvin Tomlin of Columbia and Joseph Tomlin of Millersburg; a sister, Zona Peterson of Louisiana, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials are suggested to the Louie Nowlin Memorial Fund, in care of Nelson Funeral Home, 5611 St. Charles Road, Columbia, Mo., 65202.
