UNKNOWN NEWSPAPER FROM “CALDWELL CTY MO OBITUARIES VOLUME 2” – HANDWRITTEN DATE OF SEPT 1929
Mr. Leonard (Uncle Pete) Schuster, who has been in ill health for months,
passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Dickey, in the west part of
Cowgill, early Thursday night.
He was past 87 years of age, was born at Berlin, Germany, came to the United
States with his parents when he was but three years of age.
After he became a man, he moved to Missouri, near Cowgill, and at the time of his death he still owned a farm a mile west of town.
Seventeen years ago his wife preceded him in death, two children also have gone on before. The deceased made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Dickey and her husband, and both cared for him tenderly during all these months of his suffering.
When a young man he was converted and joined the Cottage Grove Baptist church and later became a charter member of the Cowgill Baptist church of which he was a member at the time of his passing away.
Funeral services were held from the Baptist church, Sunday afternoon, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Pitney, after which he was tenderly laid away beside the grave of his companion in the Cowgill cemetery.
Those left to mourn his going away were: three daughters and one son; Mrs.
Bettie Dickey and Mrs. Anna Thomson of Cowgill, John Schuster of Cowgill; two
grandsons, Rice Schuster of Amarillo.
Texas and J.D. Schuster of Oklahoma. Two brothers, John Schuster of Polo and
Steve Schuster Sr. of Cowgill, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Ira Lee Stepleton, 87, died April 25, 2003, in Cañon City.
He was born Oct. 27, 1915, to Clarence and Clara (Swisher) Stepleton, in Braymer, Mo.
He was raised near Braymer and Polo, Mo. He was a World War II veteran
stationed in Panama.
After his service, he moved to Colorado where he worked at Fort Carson in the
motorpool and retired after 35 years of civil service.
Mr. Stepleton is survived by his children; George (Pam) Stepleton, Myra
(Roland) Barber; grandchildren, Sara, Tracy and Aimee Stepleton;
great-granddaughter; Brynn Marie Voss; nephew, Bert "Bud" Vaught, and nieces,
Mary Doyle, Beverly (John) McCartney, Ruby (Ron) Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Muriel Vaught, and a granddaughter, Stacey Stepleton.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Monday, April 28, at Florence Mortuary.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Florence Mortuary
Chapel, with the Rev. Chuck Kinyon officiating.
Interments to follow in Mountain Vale Memorial Gardens.

Clara Jane Stepleton, age 48 died November 26, 1933 at her home in Grant
Township.
She was born November 5, 1885 in Clarke County, IL., to Reuben and Mary Medora
Marrs-Swisher.
She was united in marriage to Clarence Stepleton on January 28, 1908 in Edgar
County, IL. To this union two children were born, daughter, Muriel and son Ira
Lee.
Her husband and children survive her of the home. In addition, her mother of
Braymer, MO and brother Oscar “Doc” Swisher of Braymer.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer, MO.
