Charles Alfred Dady, age 56, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 17, 2001, at the Independence Regional Hospital in Independence, Missouri. He was born May 27, 1945, in Bogard, Missouri, the son of Coen Eldon and Thelma Rounkles Dady. He graduated from Carrollton High School and served in the National Guard for several years.Survivors include two daughters, Lora Araujo of Kansas City, Missouri and Janet Goodwin of Trimble, Missouri; one son, Roger Dady of Carrollton, Missouri; four grandchildren, R. Michael, Robert, Vincente, and Laurencia. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2001, at the Gibson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 22, 2001, at the Coloma Cemetery, Coloma, Missouri, conducted by Reverend Bruce Trussell.

Helen Genevieve Hanavan Davis passed away at the Life Care Center in Carrollton, Missouri, March 9, 2008. She was born January 23, 1921 in Bosworth, Missouri, the daughter of Lillie Maude Purdy and Floyd Gillison Hanavan. She was united in marriage to LeRoy Godsey in 1939. To this union was born one son, Larry LeRoy Godsey. In 1946 she was united in marriage to Alvin W. Davis. To this union was born one son, William Michael Davis. Mrs. Davis had been a member of the Bosworth Methodist Church and the Bosworth American Legion Auxiliary. She was an employee of Swift Meat Packing Company in Kansas City in the early 1940’s and later worked with her father and mother in the Hanavan Restaurant in Bosworth. She was a long-time employee of the Bosworth Public Schools in charge of the school cafeteria. She later worked for a time at the Brunswick Glove Factory. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, J. W. in infancy, and Charles Hanavan, and one great niece, Kimberly Miller. Survivors, besides her husband Alvin, of Bosworth, include her sons, Larry; Michael and wife Connie, Kansas City, Missouri, step-daughter Beverly Hinton and husband Robert, Windsor, Missouri; one granddaughter, Misty Davis, Dallas, Texas; two step-granddaughters, Jill Celava, Phoenix, Arizona, Tracy Hoover, Jefferson City, Missouri; one great grandson, Miles Davis, Carrollton, Texas; three step-great granddaughters; one sister, Betty Howard and husband Donald, Carrollton, Missouri; nieces, Peggy Miller, Carrollton, Missouri, Joyce Mistler, Troy, Missouri, and Connie Anderson, Belton, Missouri; five great-nieces; and two great-nephews. In addition she is survived by one sister-in-law, Lorene Davis Grossman, Chillicothe, Missouri, several special cousins and a host of relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Gibson Funeral Home, Bosworth, Missouri, with Gail Brown officiating. Burial will be in Wharton Cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. David Ellis DeMint, age 61, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 13, 2008 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. David was born January 23, 1947 in Carrollton, Missouri the son of Johnnie R. and Annabelle Ellis DeMint Sr. He attended Carrollton Grade and High School. David served in the U.S. Army. On October 18, 1969 David was united in marriage to Linda S. Hensley in Kansas City, Missouri. She survives at the home. David was a Truck Driver for Yellow Freight retiring after 27 years of service. He was a member of the United Church of Tina and Disciples of Christ Christian Church Kansas City, Missouri. He was a Mason and a member of Ararat Shrine. David is survived by one brother Johnnie Ray DeMint Jr. and wife Nellie of Moberly ,Missouri, nine sisters Dorothy Ryan, Lawson, Missouri, Vivian Bowlen and husband Kenneth of Carrollton, Missouri, Betty Flick and husband Jack of Tina. Missouri, Alice Richards and husband Orval of Carrollton, Missouri, Opal Zetmier and husband Norris Santa Maria, California, Joyce Mathews and husband Paul Topeka, Kansas, JuneDobbins and husband Larry of Carrollton, Missouri, Arlene DeMint Liberty, Missouri, Kay Oster, Kearney, Missouri, two sister-in-laws Margy Bray and husband Jim Bonner Springs, Kansas, Patty Harris and husband Ricky, Independence, Missouri, and a host of nieces and nephews. His parents a sister Mary, nephew Billy Dady and mother-in-law Mary Hensley. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Gale Thurlo officiating. Military Services and Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery , Higginsville, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Monday June 16, 2008 at Gibson Funeral Home Carrollton, Missouri. Masonic Services will be at 8:00 p.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Ricky Lynn Dickson, age 47, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008 at his home. Ricky was born June 18, 1960 in Carrollton, Missouri, the son of Jimmy and Patricia (Bahr) Dickson. He attended Carrollton High School. On October 9, 1991 he married Kathy Lynn Silvey in Carrollton, Missouri. She survives at the home. Ricky was self-employed as a drywall installer. His father, Jimmy Dickson, Ringwood, Oklahoma, a son, Jamie Dickson, a daughter, Joni Dickson, both of Sedalia, Missouri, a son Kyle Dickson, and one sister, Cathy Ann Dickson, Indpendence, Missouri, also survive Ricky. His mother preceded him in death on December 23, 2006. Mr. Dickson will be cremated. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the family’s choice in memory of Mr. Dickson. Verlea Dickinson, age 85, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital. Verlea was born on July 29, 1919, the daughter of Arthur and Minnie (Kemble) Bachtel, near Bosworth, Missouri. They moved to the Tina area a little later, where she graduated from Tina High School. On April 13, 1942, she was married to Harold Dickinson. He preceded her in death in 1993. They were married for fifty-one years.
Verlea, also known as Meme by her grandchildren and friends, was an active member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for thirteen years. She was also a Girl Scout leader with the same group from Brownie Scouts to Senior Scouts and a 4-H leader. She was a member of the Victory Club. Her hobbies were sewing for her grandchildren and cooking Sunday dinner after all went to church. She had a love for music.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Dennis Pink, Carrollton, two granddaughters, Melissa and Christie Pink, St. Louis, Missouri, whom she loved dearly and one precious great-grandson, Adam Boatman. Also surviving her are one niece and her husband, Peggy and Jack Walsh of Grandview, Missouri, two nephews and their wives, Donald and Adele Barnett of Carrollton, Missouri and Art and Val Forsythe of Sarasota, Florida, one great-nephew and his wife, Bruce and Sarah Barnett of Marthasville, Missouri, one great-niece and her husband, Martha and Barry Ginsburg of St. Louis, Missouri, cousins and a host of friends. Two sisters, Irene Forsythe and Marie Oerding, one brother, Roy Bachtel, her parents and an infant son also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Carrollton, Missouri with the Reverend Sandra Crater officiating on Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 25, 2005 from 6-9:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Van Horn Cemetery. Albert E. Delana, age 61, of Waverly, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 7, 2007 at Lafayette Regional Health Center, Lexington, Missouri. Albert was born July 7, 1946 in Hodge, Missouri, the son of Martin M. and Leona M. (Hostetter) Delana. He graduated from Grand Pass High School.On May 27, 1967 he married Shirley Boehmer in Alma, Missouri. She survives at the home.Albert served in the United States Army. He was a truck driver for Zeysing Farms in Marshall, Missouri. He was a member of the Waverly Baptist Church. Albert is also survived by three children, Don and wife Kim, Olathe, Kansas, Dave and wife Jodi, Warrensburg, Missouri, Crystal Faler and husband Thomas, Waverly, Missouri, two brothers, Garry M. Delana, Roger D. Delana, both of Waverly, Missouri, six granddaughters, Erica, Lindsey, Ashley and Heather Delana, Brittney and Robyn Faler. His parents, two brothers, Monroe and Larry, and one infant sister, Mary, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Waverly Baptist Church, Waverly, Missouri, with Pastor Mike Walker officiating. Burial was in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Missouri. Visitation was held from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2007 at Gibson Funeral Home, Waverly, Missouri. A former Carrollton, Missouri resident, Alvin Gerald (Jerry) Dorner, age 72, died June 11, 1999, at the Simi Valley Hospital in Simi Valley, California. He was born October 21, 1926, in Carroll County, Missouri, the son of George Alvin and Evaleen Evans Dorner. He graduated from Carrollton High School and received his degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he also did graduate work. He belonged to Phi Beta Pi while there. He also did graduate work in Ann Arbor, Michigan and at USC. He worked for Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company for 45 years where he had worked in several different departments, including research, and retired as District Manager. On June 15, 1949, he was married to Diana Jean Bleckner. She preceded him in death. He then married Kay A. Carpenter on July 9, 1983. She survives at the home. He was a member of the Bel Air Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, Gerald Gordon (Gary) Dorner, Woodland Hills, California; his mother, Evaleen Dorner, Carrollton; a granddaughter, Katherine Diana; and a grandson, Wes.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 17, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, conducted by the Reverend Jim West. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton.
Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at Gibson Funeral Home. The family suggests contributions to the Bel Air Presbyterian Church or the Carrollton United Methodist Church in memory of Mr. Dorner
