E Obituaries
Leeroy Cecil Elliott, age 71, of Wood Heights, Missouri, passed away Thursday,
December 16, 2004, at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Excelsior Springs,
Missouri.
He was born June 28m, 1933 in
Carrollton, Missouri, the son of Simm and Hattie J. Goosen Elliott.
He attended Carrollton Schools and was in the United States Navy during
the Korean Conflict. On April 13, 1957,
he married Bonnie Coffey in Carrollton, Missouri. She survives at
the home. He was employed with Ford Motor Company in Claycomo,
Missouri. In addition to his wife,
Bonnie, Leeroy is also survived by three children, Karen Lynn and husband
Dallas, Wood Heights, Missouri, Steven Elliott, Richmond,
Missouri, and Christine Schroyer and husband Herb, Richmond,
Missouri; two sisters, Wilehmeana Fecther and Margret Hedrick; four
grandchildren, one step grandchild, one great grandchild and one step
great grandchild. Leeroy was preceded in
death by his parents. Funeral services
were at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, December 19, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home,
Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Jeff Maxwell officiating. Burial
was in Gilead Cemetery. Military services were by Veterans of
Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton,
Missouri. Visitation was from 7-8:30
p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton,
Missouri. The family suggests
contributions be made to the family’s choice in memory of Leeroy.

Evans, Laura Margaret Evans,
86, of Rochester Hills, Michigan and former resident of Upper Arlington,
died June 14, 2005. She was born on May 7, 1919 in Bosworth, Missouri to
Ores and Blanche (Burrows) Young. She taught school in rural Missouri
before attending and graduating from the University of Missouri. She lived
in Washington, D.C. during the war years and worked at the Library of
Congress. After moving to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she worked for the
Armstrong Cork Company. She lived in Syracuse, New York for 12 years,
raising a family, before moving to Upper Arlington where she resided for
36 years. Always involved in the communities in which she lived, she was
active in various churches, most recently Covenant Presbyterian Church,
and numerous education and civic groups including League of Women Voters,
the PTA, and the Girl Scouts. For many years she was a volunteer in the
Columbus Public Schools (Garfield Elementary School) and the Fayetteville
(New York) Public Library. She is survived by son, Philip (Nancy) Evans of
Rochester Hills, Michigan; and daughter, Anita Evans (Lawrence Lebiecki)
of La Crosse, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Gregory and Andrea Evans; and many
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32
years, Howard Joseph Evans, whom she married on June 18, 1942, and her
brother, John Edward Young. A memorial service will be held on Friday,
August 5 at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Ridgecliff &
Redding Roads, in Upper Arlington. Rev. Richard E. Karns officiating. In
lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to the Upper
Arlington Public Library or Covenant Presbyterian Church in her
memory
