Ruth Marie Garr, 93, a
former Mendon, MO resident died on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Pioneer
Skilled Nursing Center in Marceline, MO. Funeral services will be held at the
Gibson Funeral Home in Mendon, MO on Monday, March 6, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. Gail
Brown officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, from 6 –
8:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Mendon Cemetery at Mendon, MO. Memorials may be
made to the Mendon Cemetery. Ruth was born on January 5, 1913 at Mendon, MO the
daughter of John Frederick and Elsie May McPherson Steinbeck. She graduated from
the Mendon High School in 1930 and was married to Elson Livingston Garr on July
4, 1942 at Chillicothe, MO. Elson preceded her in death on November 25, 1988.
Ruth was a Methodist and had been a housewife and homemaker. She is survived by
one daughter, Judy Garr of Mendon, MO; three sons, Robert Garr and his wife
JoAnn of Brookfield, MO, Richard Garr and his wife Jeanette of West Point, IA
and Ronald Garr and his wife Lena of Mendon, MO; two sisters, Vivian Thornsberry
of Sumner, MO and Erma McAllister of Mendon, MO; two brothers; John Steinbeck of
Yucca Valley, CA and Joe Steinbeck of Lewistown, MO; eight grandchildren and ten
great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three
sisters, Edith and Betty Lou Garr and Verna Duval, two brothers, Frank and Ed
Steinbeck and one grandson, Kevin Yate. Pallbearers will be Robby, Josh, Aaron,
Alex and Jon Garr and Blaine, Tyson, Ryan and Danny Bartlett.
Leona Augusta Kornexl Garrison, age 88,
formerly of Bosworth, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 22, 2004 at the Warsaw
Health Care Center in Warsaw, Missouri. She was born November 6, 1915 in Akron,
Colorado the daughter of Joseph and Grace Peters Kornexl. She attended
Rockford Elementary School. On November 7, 1938 she married Charles Leroy
Garrison in Brunswick, Missouri. He preceded her in death in May of
1971. She was a housewife and mother and worked for Banquet Foods in
Marshall, Missouri from 1961 to 1980 except for a brief period from 1967 to 1971
when she lived in Topeka, Kansas and worked at Seamore Food, Inc. Leona is
survived by four children; Joe Garrison, Topeka, Kansas, Rosemary McMahan,
Warsaw, Missouri, Betty Saunders, Trinity, Texas and Larry Garrison, Warsaw,
Missouri; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren, seven step great
grandchildren and three step great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in
death by her parents, three sisters, Anna Feichtner, Mary Hosl, and Katherine
Holsted; and one son, Charles Leroy Garrison, Jr. Graveside services will be at
1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 2004 at McCullough Cemetery, Triplett, Missouri
with Pastor Jeff Maxwell officiating. Visitation will be from 12-1:00 p.m., at
Gibson Funeral Home, Bosworth, Missouri on Saturday, March 27, 2004. The family
suggests contributions be made to McCullough Cemetery in memory of Mrs.

Carl A. Goedeke,
age 82, went home to the Lord on March 17, 2006. Carl was born December 21, 1923
on a farm east of Carrollton, MO to Carl H. and Louise Stiek Goedeke. He went to
school in Carroll County and the University of Missouri. He resided in Carroll
County most of his life. Mr. Goedeke was a Veteran. He served in the Army Air
Corp during World War II. After serving his country her returned to Carroll
County and went into farming. Carl raised cattle for many years and had an
outstanding herd. He was married to the former La Junta Madeline Coleman. They
are the parents of five children, Dan, Randy, D. Allen, Leslie Ann and Michael.
During his life Carl was very involved in Immanuel Lutheran Church serving in
various positions in the church. He taught Sunday School for 38 years, was on
the church council, an Elder and an usher. Carl was active in his community and
served on several boards including the Wakenda School Board, was on the
Carrollton Township Board and was Assessor for Carrollton Township. Carl was
predeceased by his parents and step-mother and two step-sisters. He is survived
by his wife and sons, Dan, Randy and wife Jan, D. Allen, Michael and wife Tressa
and daughter Leslie Calhoun, two daughters-in-law, Nancy and Janice. He is also
survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several cousins.
Christian Burial will be conducted at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Carrollotn, MO
on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. Pastor Eric Swyres officiating.
Visitation will be at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, MO on Monday, March
20, 2006 from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at
Carrollton, MO. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Radio Fund or Charity of

Alexander Standley Goodson,
Jr., age 83, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008
at his home surrounded by his family. Junior was born October 7, 1924 in
Carroll County, Missouri, the son of Alex S. and Minnie Bell (Custer) Goodson.
He attended Trotter Grade School and graduated from Carrollton High
School. On February 7, 1960 he married Ila Marie Lasser in Carrollton,
Missouri. She survives at the home. Junior was a World War II Veteran of
the United States Army. He was a farmer and had served as Carroll County Sheriff
from 1955 to 1964. He was a member of the Carrollton First Baptist Church,
Wakanda Lodge #52 AF & AM, and a former member of IOOF in Carrollton.
Junior is also survived by four children, Nancy (Goodson) Hedrick, Carrollton,
Missouri; Debbie Goodson, Overland Park, Kansas; Cathy Goodson, Lenexa, Kansas;
Lisa Goodson, Carrollton, Missouri; one sister, Patricia Hamlin, Fort Worth,
Texas; four grandchildren, Joshua Hedrick, Dallas, Texas; Matthew Hedrick,
Carrollton, Missouri; and Skyler and Kayla Goodson, Carrollton, Missouri.
His parents and two sisters, Betty Moore and Nancy Fuller, preceded him in
death. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2008,
at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Chris Cox
officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri,
with Military Services provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England
Post #1773 of Carrollton. Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m. Sunday, June
1, 2008 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri. The family suggests

GREEN – Mrs Almeda Snyder Skinner Green, 68, of 8107 Wilson, K.C., MO. Died yesterday (Nov.11, 1959) at Nevada, MO. She had lived in Kansas City about 40 years. She was born at Wakenda, MO. She leaves a son, William A. Snyder of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Irene Johnson, 11120 East Twenty-seventh, Independence; Mrs. Hazel McVay, Houston, TX; Mrs. Maxine Booher and Mrs. Bessie Booher, both of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Mrs. Edna Richardson, 545 Blue Ridge; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Lula Marie
Gregg, age 90, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away
Thursday, March 24, 2005 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton,
Missouri. She was born January 18, 1915 in Leslie Township, Missouri, the
daughter of William Ervin and Anna Stipes Marple. She attended Isom Grade
School. On December 12, 1931 she was married to Floyd Lee Gregg in Carrollton,
Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2005. She was a
loving wife and mother. Marie was a member of the Mandeville Methodist
Church. She is survived by eleven children; William D. Gregg and wife Martha,
Carrollton, Missouri, Anna Lee Bahr and husband Fred, Carrollton, Missouri,
Shirley Edwards and husband Leonard, McPherson, Kansas, Wade Gregg and wife
Janice, Barnard, Kansas, Arnold Gregg and wife Judy, Bosworth, Missouri, Bobby
Gregg and wife Janie, Bogard, Missouri, Jackie Gregg and wife Gayle, Carrollton,
Missouri, Russell Gregg and wife Dianne, Oak Grove, Missouri, Sally Hanavan and
husband John, New Castle, Indiana, Dorothy Allnutt and husband Randall, Trenton,
Missouri and Esther Gregg, Carrollton, Missouri; five sisters, Ollie Dodson,
Chillicothe, Missouri, Mildred Dodson, Higginsville, Missouri, Mary Frances
Henry, Bogard, Missouri, Helen Tucker, Richmond, Missouri, Dorothy Jones,
Cottage Hill, Illinois and one brother, William Marple, Carrollton, Missouri;
nineteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren and one great great
granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and one granddaughter,
Tamara Faye Gregg, also preceded Marie in death. Funeral services were at 11:00
a.m., Monday, March 28, 2005 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with
Pastor Jeff Maxwell officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bogard,
Missouri. Visitation was from 7-8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Gibson
Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Helen Katherine Griffin, age 93, of
Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at Carroll House,
Carrollton, Missouri. She was born August 21, 1910 in Carroll County, Missouri,
the daughter of Warren E. and Bessie L. Henderson Forsythe. She attended
Star School and graduated from Tina High School, Tina, Missouri. On October 27,
1933, she married John Henry Griffin in Lexington, Missouri. He preceded
her in death on August 15, 1984. Helen was a homemaker, wife and
mother. She and John lived on a farm north of Carrollton, and in 1955 they
moved to Carrollton, where they operated the Alis-Chalmer Farm Machinery
dealership until they sold it in 1967. Helen was a member of the First
Christian Church, Carrollton, Missouri, Victory Extension Club and was a 4-H
leader for several years. Helen is survived by one daughter, Loreita Sue Colborn
and husband, Richard, Carrollton, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Helen Forsythe,
Grandview, Missouri; five grandchildren, Kevin and Pam Colborn, Norborne,
Missouri, Jeri and Tim Burger, Carrollton, Missouri, Curtis and Jojean Colborn,
Bogard, Missouri, Teryl Colborn, St. Joseph, Missouri, Lora and Ken McKee, Oak
Grove, Missouri; sixteen great grandchildren, Kevin Dale Colborn, Brian,
Jennifer and Kelsey Burger, Jason, Christopher, Ryan, Eric and Adam Colborn,
Brandon and Dillan Colborn, Lesley, Tracy and Jason McKee and Colby and Kaitlyn
Cowherd; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, one sister, Eunice
Forsythe and one brother, Hal Forsythe, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 2, 2004 at the First
Christian Church, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Joe Barone
officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton,
Missouri. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:15 p.m., Friday, April 2, 2004 at the
First Christian Church, Carrollton, Missouri. The family suggests contribution

Karen Kay Griffith,
age 53, of DeWitt, Missouri, died April 20, 1999, at the University Hospital
Center in Columbia, Missouri. She was born May 4, 1945, in St. Louis,
Missouri, the daughter of Woodrow W. and Helen Niermann Hoemann. She
attended grade and high school in St. Louis, and received a journalism degree
from Missouri University in Columbia.
She had worked at the Carrollton
Daily Democrat and P.S. Originals. She was a member of the Immanuel
Lutheran Church, where she taught in the weekday school. She was also a
member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid and the Peavine Extension Club, and was a
former member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. On August 17, 1968, she was
married to Dale Griffith in St. Louis, Missouri. He survives at the
home. Other survivors include two sons, Matthew Griffith and Adam Griffith
of the home; a brother, John Hoemann, Austin, Texas; and a sister, Susan McKee,
and husband, George, Beaumont, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her
parents. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 24, 1999, at
the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Carrollton, conducted by Reverend Eric
Swyres. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt. Visitation
will be from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Friday, at the Gibson Funeral Home in
Carrollton, Missouri. The family suggests contributions to the Lutheran
Hour, the Lutherans for Life, or Immanuel Lutheran Church in memory of Mrs.
Griffith.

Mrs. John Guitar, Sr., 83, member of a prominent West Texas family died today in her home, 1508 North 1st Street, where she had lived for the past 42 years. Her death followed six months of failing health. Funeral will be held at the family residence. Rev. Harlie Woolard, pastor of the First Christian church and Dr. E.B. Surface, former pastor of the Central Presbyterian church will officiate. Burial in the Cedar Hill cemetery where her late husband was buried in 1936. Laughter-North funeral home is conducting arrangements. To Abilene in 1896 Mrs. Guitar was born Laura Hudson, the daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. Repps Bedford Hudson, 26 June 1865 in Carrolton, Missouri. It was there she was married to John Guitar, 25 March 1890. The couple left Missouri in 1891 and moved to Texas, settling at Jefferson. They lived there only a short time before going to Ennis, Texas. From there they came to Abilene in 1898. In their first year here, Mr. Guitar built AbileneÕs first oil mill and formed the Abilene Cotton Oil Mill Co. The mill burned in 1919. Mr. Guitar also held other interest in the cotton industry. These included compresses at Colorado City, Stamford, Seymour, Munday and Spur; and cotton gins at Abilene, Hawley, Tye, Merkel, Trent, Roscoe, Loraine, Colorado City, Westbrook, Coahoma, Big Spring, and Stanton. They were all operated by the Guitar Trust Estate, former by Mr. Guitar in 1923. Interested in the estate were Mr. And Mrs. Guitar and their eight children. Mr. Guitar set the Guitar Industries into operation in Hudspeth, Howard, Dickens, Shackelford, Jones and Taylor counties. He was interested in crude oil and gasoline refining and sale, serving as part owner of the Abilene Refining Company and owner of a Pine Street service station. Developed Real EstateThe Guitars were among the city's large owners of downtown business property and developed real estate on a large scale. Simmons Terrace, a 16 acre residential tract in northeast Abilene, was a Guitar development. Mr. Guitar died 7 April 1936. His death was also in the family residence, which, although it was built nearly 37 years ago, is yet one of the most striking residential structures in Abilene. Mrs. Guitar had been active in both church and club work. She was one of the earliest members of the First Christian church and had contributed much to the erection of the present church building. She was a charter member of the Woman's Club and had held membership in various organizations which met at the club building. She had been president of the Just-Sew Club since its organization. Survivors are three sons: John Guitar, Jr. of Abilene; Repps Guitar of Big Spring; Earl Guitar of Abilene; 5 daughters Š Mrs. Guy Witherspoon, Sr. of Fort Worth; Mrs. Dennis E. Woods, 126 Merchant S., Abilene; Mrs. John C.
