Elizabeth Ritzinger Jordan. As a child, her family moved west, where they lived
for a time in a sod house on their Colorado farm. She attended schools at Bunker
Hill, Colorado; Clough Valley at St. Francis, Kansas; and Armel High School at

in 1934 and later taught at Willow Grove and Guillet. Following several years of
teaching in country schools, she taught in the towns of Bosworth, Hale, Braymer,

School class, the Nursery Class, when she was just eight years old.

Women, Classroom Teachers, and PTA. She was awarded an honorary lifetime
membership in the Hyde School PTA at her retirement. In her later years, a
former student, Dr. Jerry Chambers of Franklin County, wrote this tribute to
her: "Miss Jordan--For all you taught us, for the guidance you gave us, and for
how you loved us all, I thank you." Her giving philosophy is revealed in a
favorite poem by Emily Dickinson:
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in
vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,

Or help
one fainting robin Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
