Trails Clayton Homer Kelb
Leona F. Kelley, age 76, of Carrollton,
Missouri, died March 31, 1999, at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in
Carrollton. She was born December 14, 1922, in the State of Kansas, the
daughter of Thomas R. and Zelma Naught Miller. She graduated from Wakenda
High School. On September 6, 1956, she was married to Gene Kelley in St.
Joseph, Missouri. He survives at the home. Other survivors include
two daughters, Janis Baker, Odessa, Missouri, and Patti Lahmann, Potosi,
Missouri; two brothers, Lloyd Miller, Carrollton, and Donnie Miller, Concordia,
Missouri; one sister, Irene Endicott, Independence, Missouri; five grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers,
Johnny, Harold, Earl and Tommy; and three sisters, Margie, Eva Lenore and
Arvella. Graveside services will be 3:00 P.M., Saturday, April 3, 1999, at
the Fairhaven Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri, conducted by Reverend Bert
Hughes. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, at the Gibson
Funeral Home in Carrollton. The family suggests contributions to the
American Heart Association or the American Cancer Fund in memory of Mrs.
Kelley. They may be left at or mailed to the Gibson Funeral Home in
Carrollton.
Hattie Kerr, 75, died Saturday morning about 3
o'clock in the Atwood Hospital where she had been a patient for a few
days. Mrs. Kerr, a well known resident of Bosworth, was suddenly taken ill
on Thursday and entered the hospital here, but her condition failed to
improve. Hattie L. Standley was the daughter of Barton (Bartlett) and
Catherine (Forrest) Standley was born in Carroll County, October 6, 1875, and
spent her entire life in the Bosworth community. In 1894 she was united in
marriage with James Kerr who preceded her in death a number of years ago.
To this union one son, H. H. Kerr of Kansas City was born. Mrs. Kerr, the
last surviving member of her family was a member of Bosworth Methodist Church
where the last rites were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment

W. H. Key, of Tina, Died
Monday at home of son J.A. Key. He would have been 100 years old on
March 15,1936. Our community was greatly shocked at
the sudden death of William H. Key, which occured February 3rd at 9:45 pm
at the home of his son, James A. Key, in Tina, Mo. He was aged 99
years 10 months and 18 days. William H. Key was born March
15,1836 in Shelby county Tennessee and was the son of Dempsy and Mary
Key. At the age of 8 years he came to Carroll county Missouri,
making the trip by boat, and arrioved at DeWitt in March
1844. He first settled on a farm in Leslie township where he
lived until 1849, when he moved to Ray county and settled on a farm near
Richmond. He lived there until 1852 when he again moved to Carroll
county and settled on a farm in Leslie township where he continued to
reside until 1870 when he moved to Hill township. There he made his
home until 1917. Since then he had made his home with his
children. In 1862 he enlisted in Company A, 65th regiment,
enrolled Missouri Militia in whech he served from July 28 to Dec. 6th of
the same year. He then served in Company E, 4th Provisional Missouri
Militia from May 7, 1863 until June 30,1863. He was in Captain Wm.
Beatty's company from Sept. 21,1864. In October of the same year he
was captured by the Confederates and was released Jan. 10,
1865. On June 24,1858 he was united in marriage with Miss Julia
Ann Street, of this county, who preceded him in death on April
19,1915. To this union were born six children. Three of
whom survive: John A. Key of Bogard, Geo. W. Key and James A. Key of
Tina. Those who preceded him in death were Lucinda jane Plaster,
Nannie B. Long and William T. Key. He is also survived by 19
grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
He had been a member of the Church of Christ of
Coloma for many years and had lived a faithful member until his death.
"Grandpa", as he was favorably known was a kind and loving father and
grandfather, and a friend to all who knew him. Mr. Key had been
blind for several years and some weeks ago fell, hurting his hip. He
bore his affliction without a murmer.
Funeral
services were held in his memory Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at
the Church of Christ in Coloma, conducted by the Reverend Jones of Iberia,
Mo., after which he was laid to rest beside his beloved wife in the Coloma
cemetery.

This obit was sent to me
some years ago by another Standley researcher because Mr. Key appeared to
be in the same Confederate unit as one of our relatives, Elihu
Standley. They informed me that they copied the obit from the
newspaper.
Betty Jane
Knott, age 84, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday December 4,
2007 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital. Betty was born September 11,
1923 in Carrollton, Missouri, the daughter of Emmett David and Della Francis
Smith Simms. She attended school in Carrollton, Missouri. On March 29,
1940 she married Lewis Knott Jr. in Carrollton, Missouri. He preceded her in
death. She worked at Banquet Foods for several years, and spent the rest of her
life as wife, mother, homemaker and grandmother. Betty is survived by four
children, Jackie Knott and wife Vaona of Carrollton, Missouri, Dixie Corbin,
Carrollton, Missouri, Debbie Knott Carrollton, Missouri, and Donald Ray Simms
and wife Glenda of Richmond, Missouri, six Grandchildren Tim Knott, Ted Knott,
Tony Corbin, Rusty Simms, Angela Lewis, and Callie Simms, several Great
Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren, and close friend Beverly
Snyder. Betty’s parents two sisters Irene Eastridge, JoAnn Marotz and a
niece Connie McCoy also preceded her in death. Graveside services will be
held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday December 8, 2007 at Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt,
Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Visitation will be from 1-1:45
p.m. at the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri. The family suggests
contributions be made to H.E.L.P. Services Cancer Fund. They may be left at or
