Eldred Catherine Thies, age 84, of Carrollton, Missouri, died April 27, 1999, at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. She was born March 10, 1915, in Norborne, Missouri, the daughter of William and Ann Hofmann Boschert. She attended rural school and graduated from Carrollton High School. She lived in DeWitt during her entire married life. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carrollton, and its Altar Society. On August 20, 1940, she was married to Raymond F. Thies in the St. Mary's Rectory in Carrollton. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1983. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Uldene Hayslett, Kansas City, Missouri; a brother, Delmar Boschert, Overland Park, Kansas; several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great- nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 30, 1999, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carrollton. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M., Friday, at Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton. Kali Jean Thomas, infant daughter of Jason Glen Thomas and Deidra Nicole Friend, passed away April 14, 2008 at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Brotherton-Little Adkins Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.

Henry Orval Tietjens, age 90, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Carrollton Life Care Center. Orval was born March 4, 1918 in Independence, Missouri, the son of William Logan and Melvina (Baxley) Tietjens. He was a graduate of Brunswick High School and Chillicothe Business College. He was in the United States Army during World War II, serving as a 1st Lieutenant, Supply and Ammunition and Pioneer Officer, in the 320th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division, 3rd Army. He was a decorated recipient of two Bronze Stars. On December 7, 1945 he married Lucille Candis Nash in Durham, North Carolina. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2008. Orval was a Claims Adjuster for AAA in St. Louis, Missouri from 1946 to 1948. He and Lucille moved to the Carrollton area and began farming in 1948 until he retired in 1986. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 in Carrollton.Orval is surrvived by four children, Jan Martin Tietjens, Liberty, Missouri; Julie Gwyn McCray, Durham, North Carolina; Joel Nash Tietjens, Spring, Texas; James Edwin Tietjens, Toluca, Illinois; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. His parents, one brother, William Clyde Tietjens, and two sisters, Hazel Lyman and Mabel Rexroad, also preceded him in death. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Military Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 18, 2008 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri, with Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, of Carrollton, providing Military Honors. M. Sue Trotter of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Friday June 13, 2008 at Overland Park Regional Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas. Sue was born April 27, 1934 the daughter of Pete Alexander and Margaret Leemyra Young Trotter. She was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from Norborne High School, she attended Kirksville State Teachers College. She worked at Commerce Trust Company Bank in Kansas City, Missouri for over 20 years. She attended Kansas City Business College and graduated with a degree in Medical Transcription. She worked as a medical transcriptionist for 30 years and was employed at Research Hospital at the time of her death.
Sue is survived by one brother, Reverend Richard Trotter and wife, Marcella of Huntsville, Texas, and one sister Ruth Carol Trotter Proffitt and husband, Reverend Edward Proffitt of Springfield, Missouri, three nephews, Reverend Randy Trotter, Nederland, Texas, Mark Edward Proffitt, New Orleans, LA. Curtis Alan Proffitt, Norfolk, VA. Two nieces, Rhonda Lynn Moore, San Antonio, Texas and Natalie Jill Valencia, McAllen, Texas, nine great nephews, Brad and Alex Valencia, Ryan Moore, Cary and Colby Trotter, Scott and Kenneth Proffitt, Eric and Jordan Proffitt, and two great nieces Lauren Lindsey, and Melody Proffitt. Her parents and one sister, Leemyra Lynn preceded in death. Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday , June 16, 2008 at Fairhaven Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri, with the Reverend Edward Proffitt, and Reverend Randy Trotter officiating. The body will lie in state at the Gibson Funeral Home, in Norborne, Missouri, on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
