Ben J. Twehaus Dies at Age 74 (Cole)
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Monday at St. Peter’s Cathedral for Ben J. Tewhaus, 74, of St. Louis, a former Jefferson City resident, who died at his home Thursday morning.
Officiating at the funeral rites will be the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.A. Vogelweid, with burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
A native of Wardsville, Mr. Twehaus was born March 2, 1892, the son of Frank and Christine Mertens Twehaus.
On May 18, 1916, at Taos, he was married to the former Miss Ledwina Wekenberg, who survives.
Other survivors include: one son, Paul M., Twehaus, O’Fallon; one daughter, Mrs. Irene Sundermeyer, house Springs.
Two brothers, Martin Twehaus, Taos, and John Twehaus, Scrivner, Neb.; one sister, Mrs. Sam Westerman; and six grandchildren.
The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday, at a local funeral home.
