Boonville, Mo., April 8. - Thursday evening a negro woman went to the home of Mr. David Gibson and engaged in a quarrel with Mrs. Gibson's servant girl, a colored woman, who was at the time holding an infant in her arms. She seized a poker and struck at the girl several times, and at last one of the blows fell on the babe, inflicting a severe and probably fatal wound. Dr. Gibson was instantly summoned, and on examination, the baby's left temple was found frightfully bruised, and badly swollen. The child is in a precarious condition. The woman was arrested and taken before Mayor Gruelick.
