COMBS, John - died 3 June 1857 at his house in Cooper Co., Mo., in his 58th year. He was born in Clarke Co., Ky. to Mo. in 1820 and for past several years has resided in vicinity of Booneville. CULP – Mrs Frances G (Shirley) was born in Spottsylvania co, Va. In early life she removed with her parents to Ky. Arriving at maturity she became the wife of Josiah Culp in 1817, who preceded her some 20 years to the land of the pure and holy. During the late war she left her old homestead in Cooper co and lived in Saline co with her children. She afterwards made a visit to California for three years with her children and grandchildren. She removed to Mo, thence to Texas in 1875 … On 13 June 1877, at the residence of her son-in-law, JC Hemphill, four miles south of Maryville, Cooke co, Texas, Sister C laid off her garment of dust without a struggle. – John B Smith (Source: The St. Louis Christian Advocate; Compiled and Published by Mrs. Howard W. CULP, Josiah C. - was born in Martinsburg, Va., 25 Aug. 1777; moved with his father to Ky. in 1805; was married to Miss THURLY, 6 Nov. 1817; moved to Mo. in 1845 and settled in Cooper Co.
