Audrey June Kreamalmyer Abney was born June 26, 1920 at Sullivan, Missouri, a daughter of the late John Reeves and Sophia (Boyer) Reeves, and passed away December 23 1991, in Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri, at the abe of 71 years, 5 months and 27 days.

In addition to her parents, Audrey was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Kreamalmyer, the father of her three children, also her second husband, Willie S. “Bill” Abney: two sisters, May Curly and Pearl Crabtree and one brother, Bill Reeves.

Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her two loving daughters, Kary Kreamalmyer and Judy and husband David Helmering; her devoted son, Dan Kreamalmyer and wife Pam, also of Steelville, Missouri; one sister, Emma and husband Elmer Fortner os Sullivan, Missouri; eight grandchildren; a very special friend, Ivan Krewson of Davisville, Missouri; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Tuesday, December 24, 1991 in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Robert Coleman officiating. Committal prayers and interment were in Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri. Pallbearers were Harold Green, David L. Helmering, Tim Helmering, Urban Kuenz, Kenneth L. Reeves, and Tom Worley. Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.

Faye Eunice Abney was born August 17, 1915, at Steelville, Missouri, a daughter of the late Walter Williams and Passed away October 3, 1991, in Farmington, Missouri at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 16 days.

Faye was united in marriage to Ralph Edward Abney and to this union one son and three daughters were born.

In addition to her parents, Walter and Leatha Williams; Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Abney; two daughters, Francis Skaggs and Bonnie (Skaggs) Masters; one brother, Clyde Williams and two sisters, Blanche Long and Francis Hawkins.

Among those who remain to mourn her passing are three devoted daughters Betty and Husband Austin Gilliam of St. Peters, Missouri; Gladys and husband John Calvert of Tempe, Arizona and Ann and husband Don Schidler of Mesa, Ariaona; a loving son, Eugene Abney of Steelville, Missouri; a brother, Kenneth Williams and wife Emma of Cherryville, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Mabel Abney of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Faye Eunice Abney (nee Williams) lay in state after 11 A.M. Saturday, October 5, 1991, at Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 2 P.M. Sunday, October 6, 1991, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Ed Gamble officiating. Committal prayers and interment were in the Czar Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. Pallbearers were Billy Abney, Gerald Finnern, Steve Gibson, Randy Gilliam, Ricky Gilliam and Dale Williams. Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri

Earl E Abney was born September 17, 1910, at Courtois, Missouri, a son of the late James Calvin and Ann (Casbolt) Abney. He passed away March 25, 1995, at the Phelps County Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 8 days.

December 14, 1929, at Huzzah, Missouri, Earl was united in marriage to Mabel Irene Bays. To this union two daughters and one son were born. They enjoyed over sixty-five years together, before her death, January 8, 1995.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mabel, he was preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law, Irma Jean and Robert (Bob) Allen; seven brothers, Harrison, Burton, Rome, Ralph, Willie, Burvel and Guy Abney and one sister, Ethel Wigger.

Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving daughter, Lucille and husband Herbert Proffer of Cuba, Missouri: fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, Gerriene Abney of Viburnum, Missouri; Gulenia Mincher Lint, all of Steelville, Missouri and Hester and Harry Hutson of St. Louis, Missouri; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Earl was a member of Shaol Creek Baptist Church, Steelville, Missouri. He worked for local governments in law enforcement for many years. He served the City of Cuba as Chief of Police for ten years, (April 1966-April 1976). He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He often shared his catch with his friends and neighbors.

Earl E. Abney lay in state after 2 P.M. Sunday. March 26. 1995, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 1 P.M. Monday, March 27m 1995, with Rev. Rick Dablemont officiating. Musical selections were provided by pianist Geraldine Sherrill and vocalist Larry Sherrill. Committal prayers and interment were in Skaggs Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.

Pallbearers were Tim Bailey, Jim Britton, Carl Callahan, Al Engelbrecht, Mike Guess, Terry Wilkinson and Fran Wynn.

Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.

Mabel Irene Abney (nee Bays) was born October 14, 1908, at Huzzah, Missouri, a daughter of the late George Orvel and Bertha Estelle (Huitt) Bays and entered eternal life, January 8, 1995, at her home in Cuba, Missouri, at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 24 days.

As a young lady, Mabel accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church for over seventy years.

December 14, 1929, at Huzzah, Missouri, Justice of the Peace Ed Sanders, United Mabel in marriage to Wael Abney. Two daughters and one son were born to this union. They have enjoyed over sixty-five years together.

In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by one daughter, Irma Jean Allen; two sisters, Leona Bays, and Fern Lint and one brother, Jewell Bays.

Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted husband, Earl Abney of the home in Cuba, Missouri; one son Richard Abney and wife Libby of Bourbon, Missouri; one daughter, Lucille and husband Herbert Proffer of Cuba, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends who will fondly remember her and sadly miss her.

Mabel Irene Abney lay in state after 3 P.M. Monday, January 9, 1995 at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 11 A.M. Tuesday, January 10, 1995, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Rick Dablemont officiating. Musical selections were provided by pianist Viola Allen Gibson. Committal prayers and interment were in Skaggs Cemetery, Rural Steelville, Missouri.

Pallbearers were Devond Abney, Joseph D. Abney, Russell Allen, Elmer Mincher, Leroy Mincher and David Proffer.

Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.

Angela Dawn Pilkenton-Abrams of Festus, Missouri was born January 28, 1966 in Sullivan, Missouri to Ronald Leroy Pilkenton and Dee D. (nee Hillman) Pilkenton. She passed away Monday, November 19, 2007 at the age of 41 years.
    She was a 1984 Sullivan High School graduate and loved to play softball. She was very athletic and known as a good bowler as well.
    In July of 2003 she married Dennis Abrams.
    She is survived by her husband; three children, Logan Ryan Hill, Tayelor Blake Hill and Beau Broklyn Hill; two step-children, Zach and Kailey Abrams; her mother, Dee Doney and step father, Bryan of Sullivan, Missouri; brother, Ronald L. Pilkenton and wife Susan of Sullivan, Missouri; grandmother, Ruth Head of Mobile, Alabama; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
    A memorial service was conducted Saturday, December 1, 2007 at noon with a time of visitation beginning at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Connie Verle Achurch, a daughter of the late William F. and Missouri D. (Snelson) Cole, was born February 23, 1900, in West Plains, Missouri and passed away February 1, 1985 in Arcadia, Missouri, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 8 days.

Connie was a person who knew and loved the Lord. She was a kind mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, relative and friend who will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

In 1919 at Steelville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Alfred F. Achurch and to this union two children were born. Besides her parents and husband Alfred, Mrs. Achurch was preceded in death by two brothers Arthur and Edward Cole and six infant brothers and sisters.

Those who remain to mourn her passing from this life are her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and William Carmack of Steelville, Missouri and her son and daughter-in-law, William and Jane Achurch of Phoenix, Arizona, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Connie Verle Achurch were held at 2 P.M. Monday, February 4, 1985, in the Chapel of Britton Bros. Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri with her pastor, Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating. Pallbearers were Tom Graham, William A. and Steve Carmack, Charles A. Noltkamper, Jack England and Ronald A. Bishop.

Interment was in the Schweider Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri under the direction of Britton Bros. Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.

George Henry Ackerman passed away December 8, 1998, at his residence in Cuba, Mo., Having attained the age of 88 years.

Mr. Ackerman was born on October 3, 1910, at Cuba, Mo. He was a cement block layer for commercial construction.

Mr. Ackerman served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. He was a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Ackerman is survived by a niece-in-law. Irene Ackerman; two great nephews, Ralph W. Ackerman and wife, Mary, and Kim H. Ackerman; a great niece, Shair J. Ryerson; one brother, William J. Ackerman; and one sister-in-law, Nellie V. Ackerman.

Mr. Ackerman was preceded in death by a nephew, Ralph J. Ackerman and a sister, Gladys Ackerman.

Funeral services were held for Mr. Ackerman on December 10, 1998, at the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville, Mo., with Rev. Jerry Pearson officiating. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Mo.

Funeral Arrangements were under the care of the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville, Mo.

Thomas Franklin “Frank” Adair of Cuba, Mo. was born on August 17, 1911 at Steelville, Mo. to the union of John Adair and Winnie Adair nee Massey and passed away on May 18, 1999 at Cuba, Mo. at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 1 day.

In June of 1936 Frank was united in marriage to Eva Bridgeman. Two sons, Wilbert and Glenn, and three daughters Wilma, Alberta and Charlotte were born to this union.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, one son Glenn Adair, one granddaughter Angela Britton, one brother Bill Adair and three sisters Lula Davis, Mary Murry and Ruth Bridgeman.

Frank was a long time resident of Crawford County and worked all his life in the timber.

Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his wife Eva Adair; one son Wilbert Adair and wife Lula; three daughters Wilma Bouse and husband Fred, Alberta Bouse and husband Larry, Charlotte Bouse and husband Russell; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.

Thomas Franklin Adair was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Friday, May 21, 1999 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Gene Adair and Rev. Herman Rodgers officiating. Interment was in the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.

Alice Adams was born February 21, 1902, at Berryman, Missouri, a daughter of the late John Wesley and Effie Mae (Whitecotton) Doss and passed away January 1, 1994, in the Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 10 days.  
 
December 19, 1920, at Hinch, Missouri, Alice was united in marriage to Willis Adams and to this union one son and five daughters were born. They enjoyed sixty-four years together before his death, May 24, 1985.  
 
In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by her only son, Charles E. Adams and two daughters, Mildred Schoen and an infant daughter, Ilene Adams, also four brothers, two sisters and a grandson, Jimmie Adams.
 
 Among those who remain to mourn her passing are three devoted daughters, Dorothy and husband Donald Harper of Steelville, Missouri; Betty and husband Bob Hogan of Fenton, Missouri and Pauline and
husband Rev. Orville Garrison of Joplin, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Rachel Adams of Steelville, Missouri; twenty grandchildren; twenty- eight great grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; nieces,
nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
 
 She accepted the Lord when she was about 10 years old and joined as one of the charter members of Berryman Assembly of God Church. Because of ill health she moved her membership to Steelville First
Assembly, where she served faithfully for several years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
 
 Alive Adams lay in state after 3 P.M. Monday, January 3, 1994, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 11 A.M. Tuesday, January 4, 1994, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Orville Garrison, Rev. James Perkins and Rev. Gary Petty officiating. Musical selections were done by vocalist Jerry Beers and organist Sharon Hardecke. Committal prayers and interment were in
Fairview Cemetery, Butts, Missouri.
 
 Serving as pallbearers were Larry Adams, Roy Adams, Brian D. Garrison, Charles Harper, Lonnie Harper, Jerry L. Lynn, Ronald J. Lynn and Ralph Schoen. Arrangements were under the direction of Britton
Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.

Clarence A. Adams was born on March 15, 1904 at Seaton, Missouri to the union of Walter Adams and Dells Seaton Adams and passed away on April 7, 1990 at the St. Anthony’s Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 86 years and 22 days.

Clarence was united in marriage to Lola Terry. They had a long and happy marriage until Lola preceded him in death.

Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his two sons and daughter-in-law, James and Eileen Adams and Don and Patricia Adams; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter Terri Adams.

Clarence was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.

Clarence A. Adams was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 10, 1990 at officiating. Interment was in the Steelville Cemetery. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.

Benjamin Adams, son of the late Frank and Laura Knight Adams, passed away at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri, Tuesday, January 24, 1989 at the age of 89 years.

Mr. Adams was born January 18, 1900 at Bourbon, Missouri and had lived his entire life in Bourbon. He operated a large farm with his brothers and the farm is now recognized as an historical farm home.

Surviving are: 1 sister, Lucille Guiney of route 2 Forest Hill Road, Bourbon, Missouri and two nieces, Lois Jackson Seacat of Salinas, California, and Sue Jackson Ehrsam of San Diego, California. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray, Douglas and Kermit Adams and two sisters, Winnie Jackson and Hazel Adams.

Graveside funeral services were conducted Thursday, January 26m 1989 at Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Eaton Chapel, Bourbon, Missouri.

Frances F Adams, daughter of the late Anslem and Elizabeth Strothcamp Blum, was born on February 2, 1911 in Crawford County, Missouri and departed this life on April 8, 1992 at the Sullivan, Missouri having attained the age of 81 years, 2 months and 6 days,

Frances was a lifelong resident of the bourbon area where she was employed at the Paramount Cap Factory in Bourbon, Missouri and then later at the International Shoe Company in Sullivan, Missouri. In the early 1950’s she opened and operated the Cottage Inn Restaurant in Bourbon, Missouri until ill health forced her retirement in 1986.

In March 27, 1928 she was united in marriage to John Peterson who preceded her in death on January 4, 1961.

Surviving her are: two sons, John Peterson and wife, Vera, and James Peterson, all of Bourbon, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Patsy Peterson of Bourbon, Missouri; a sister, Theresa Mathias of Sullivan, Missouri; two brothers, Bill Blum of Bourbon, Missouri and Frank Blum of Sullivan, Missouri; six grandchildren, Michael Peterson, Gary Peterson, Debra Bond, Terry Peterson, Robert Peterson Jr., Diane Peterson; 11 great-grandchildren, Tresa Bissan, Heather Peterson, Tonya Adams, Chris Peterson, Sarah Peterson, Tim Peterson, Meagan Peterson, Michael Peterson, a great-grandson, Zachery Bisson; other relatives and many friends.

She was a lifelong member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Bourbon, Missouri.

Besides those previously mentioned she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Peterson; a great-grandson, Terry James Peterson Jr.; a sister, Alvina Blum; and a brother, Harry Blum.

Memorial services were held at 7 P.M. Friday, April 10, 1992 by the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Funeral services were held at 11 A.M. Saturday, April 11, 1992 from Hassebroek’s Bourbon Chapel in Bourbon with Sr. Rose officiating/ Interment was in the Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri.

Gusta I. Adams of Sullivan Passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 1992 at the age of 81 years.

Mrs. Adams was born Dec. 16, 1910 at Bourbon, Mo., to the late Gus and Margaret Brooks Richards, being the oldest of ten children. On April 16, 1930 she was married to William Howard Adams at Bourbon and to this marriage seven children were born. Mrs. Adams loved working with quilts. She, at one time, was employed at the former Kovac’s Restaurant as a cook but her true devotion was to her family. On July 17, 1960 she was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints.

She is survived by two sons, Richard (Bud) Adams of Leslie, Mo., and David Adams of Chicago, Ill., two daughters, Velma Sohn of Jacksonville, FLa., and Rena Wright of Reno, Nev.; three brothers, Bud Richards of Sullivan, Ruben Richards of Springfield, and John Richards of O’Fallon , Ill.; four sisters, Agnes King of Meeker, COlo,. Rosalee Paul, Hazel Teeter and Dema Harms, all of Sullivan; 24 grandchildren’ 25 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; step grandchildren and great grand children; foster grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; other relatives and many friends. Mrs. Adams was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard, on June 15, 1964; by three sons, Kermit, Billy and James Adams; one brother, Bill Richards and by one sister, Bonnie Westmoreland.

Funeral services were conducted at 11A.M. Thursday, Oct. 22, 1992 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Oliver Mullen officiating. Interment was in Oddfellows Cemetery, Sullivan.

James Junior Adams of Leasburg, formerly of Steelville, Missouri, was born June 21, 1927, at Rolla, Missouri, a son of the late James A. and Erma (Line) Adams and passed away January 25, 1989, in the Jefferson Barracks Veterams Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, At the age of 61 Years, 7 months and 4 days.

Jim served his country in the United States Navy, from May 17, 1945 to March 20, 1947. He received the Asiatic Pacific Victory Medal.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are five sons: Jeff Adams and wife Tina of Cuba, Missouri; Gary Adams of St. Louis, Missouri; Patrick and Kenneth Adams, Jimmy Adams and wife Connie, all of Steelville, Missouri; four daughters; Pam Kasten of Cuba, Missouri; Geraldine and husband Mark Weaver of Rolla, Missouri; Ruth and husband David Brumley of Oklahoma and Loretta and husband Jim Elberts of Illinois; two brothers, Ervin Adams and wife Edna of Rolla, Missouri and Bill Adams and wife Pauline Adams of St. James, Missouri; one half brother, Bobby Jenkins and wife Patricia and one half sister, Evelyn and husband Don Lewis, both of Waynesville, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Manday, January 30, 1989 in the Britton Chapel, Steelville, with Rev. William Birch Officiating. Committal Prayers and interment were in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Brumley, Ronald Carl, James Lee Adams, Jim Elberts and Gary Adams. Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.

Lottie May Adams (nee Isgriggs) of Steelville, Missouri, was born May 28, 1904 at Butts, Missouri, a daughter of the late George and Bessie (Smith) Isgriggs and passed away February 17, 1986 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 19 days.

In 1920 Lotttie May was united in marriage to Marion Ray and to this union one son and two daughters were born. After his death, she married Robert (Bob) Adams of Scotia, Missouri and to this union two sons and two daughters were born.

Lottie May was preceded in death by her husband Robert Adams, one brother Clarence Isgriggs and three sisters, Minnie Duncan, Halie Vankerr and Annie Adams and two sons-in-law, Cleo Newman and Harold Greenwalt.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are her three sons, Clarence Ray and wife Gladys of Cube Missouri; Bill Adams and wife Geneva of Steelville, Missouri, and Jack Adams and wife Edna also of Steelville, Missouri; four daughters, Mary Francis Bryant of Marshal, Missouri; Janie Irene Wycoff of Brookfield, Missouri; Mildred Greenwalt of Steelville, Missouri and Ruth Newman of St. Charles, Missouri; twenty-six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Adams of Steelville, Missouri and Maggie Allen of Maryville, Missouri; three brothers, Raymond Isgriggs and wife Pearl, Clifford Isgriggs and wife Dorothy and Jessie Isgriggs and wife Gladys, all of Rolla, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Alice Adams of Steelville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Lottie May Adams were held 11 A.M. Wednesday, February 19, 1986 at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri, with Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating. Honoring their grandmother as pallbearers were Russell and Steven Adams, David, Roger and Ronnie Greenwalt and Bobby Ray.

Committal Prayers and interment were in the Fairview Cemetery, Butts, Missouri.

Robert Adams of Steelville, Missouri, a son of Mary (Earney) and Andrew Jackson Adams was born February 12, 1903 at Scotia, Missouri and passed away December 24, 1984 at his home in Steelville, Missouri

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bob, as he was known to his family and friends, is survived by his wife, Lotty May (Isgriggs) Adams; two sons Bill and wife Geneva Adams of Steelville, Missouri; Jack and wife Edna Adams of Steelville, Missouri; two daughters, Mildred Greenwalt of Steelville, Missouri and Ruth Newman of St. Charles, Missouri; one sep-son Clarence Ray and wife Gladys of Cube, Missouri; two step-daughters, Mary Francis Bryant and Janie Irene Wycoff, one half-brother, Willis Adams of Steelville, Missouri; 26 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Robert Adams was in state Wednesday, December 126, 1984 at Britton Bros. Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri where funeral services were held in the Chapel at 2 P.M., Thursday, December 27, 1984, with Rev. Delmar Hutson Officiating. Pallbearers were his grandsons, David, Roger, Ronnie and Larry Greenwalt, William and Stephen Adams.

Ruth Irene Adams was born October 16, 1910, at Vienna, Missouri, a daughter of the late George and Bessie (Smith) Isgriggs and passed away March 14, 1989, in Phelps County Regional Medical Canter, Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 78 years, 4 months, and 28 days.

Ruth was united in Marriage to Clarence Adams and to this union two sons and four daughters were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Adams; one daughter, Bonnie Kline; one brother, Clarence Isgriggs; four sisters, Hallie Vanderkirk, Minnie Duncan, Anna Adams and May Adams.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are her three devoted daughters; Margaret and husband Walter Reiner of Cube, Missouri; Alta and husband Climer Breakfield of Steelville, Missouri and Bessie and husband Lawrence West of Bourbon, Missouri; two sons; Johnny Adams and George Adams and wife Bertha all of Steelville, Missouri; three brothers: Raymond Isgriggs and wife Pearl of Vichy, Missouri; Jessie Isgriggs and wife Gladys og st. James, Missouri and Clifford Isgriggs and wife Dorothy of Rolla, Missouri; one sister, Margie Allen of Maryville, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, other relatives and many friends.

Ruth Irene Adams lay in state Thursday, March 16, 1989, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri, where funeral services were held, 11 A.M. Friday, March 17, 1989 in the Chapel with Rev. Berlie Turnbough officiating. Pallbearers were Gary and Jerry Breakfield, Fred Coleman, Scott Dotson, Dal Hutto, Jerry Judd, and Joey Kilne. Committal prayers and interment were in Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri.

Treffie Howard Adams was born at Dillard, Missouri, October 20, 1912, to James Franklin and Lucinda Ellen (Willhite) Adams and entered eternal life, October 29, 1993, at Salem Memorial Hospital, at the age of 81 years and 9 days.
 In 1976 he was baptised and became a member of Macedonia United Baptist Church of Boss, Missouri
 He was united in marriage to Hilma Mae Davis October 24, 1934, at Steelville, Missouri. To this union seven children, four daughters and three sons were born.
 In addition to his parents, Treffie was preceded in death, by a son, Roger Wayne Adams in 1949; three sons-in-law, Joe Wilson, Robert Voyles, and Eugene Turnbough; two grandsons, Rodney Dale Breier, and
Treffie Ray Breier, and one great granddaughter, Heather Whiteman.
 He leaves to mourn his passing his loving and devoted wife of fifty-nine years, Hilma of the home in Salem, Missouri; four daughters, Roberta Mae Voyles of Isabella, Missouri; Rowena Marcella Turnbough of Viburnum, Missouri; Mary Alice Wilson of Tampa, Florida and Patty Sue and husband Melvin Decker of Linn, Missouri; two sons Arnold Howard Adams and wife Ella of Luebbering, Missouri and Gordon

 Treffie spent eight years of his life at Dillard near the place where he was born. His smile, quiet love and friendship will be missed by his family and friends.
 Treffie Howard Adams lay in state after 11 A.M. Sunday, October 31, 1993, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 10 A.M. Monday, November 1, 1993, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Parker officiating. Beautiful traditional hymns were provided by a choir of family members.
 Honoring their grandfather as pallbearers were Arnold (Sonny) Adams, Keith Adams, Lee English, Bobby Gambin, Gordon Gambin and Chris Stuckmeyer. Committal prayers and interment were in Old Dillard Cemetery, Dillard, Missouri.

Willis Adams of Steelville, Missouri, a son of the late Andrew Jackson and Mary Skeith Adams, was born August 30, 1900, at Scotia, Missouri and passed away, May 24, 1985, in Sullivan (Mo.) Community Hospital, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 24 days.

On December 19, 1920, he was united in marriage to Alice Doss, at Hinch, Missouri and to this union six children were born. They were married over 64 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles E. Adams; two daughters, Mildred Schoen and an infant daughter Dene; One grandson, Jimmie Adams: one son-in-law Leroy Lynn; Three brothers, Ed, Alex, and Billie Adams; one half brother, Bob Adams and two sisters Mandy Isgrigg and Anna Adams.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife, Alice Adams of Steelville, Missouri; three daughters, Dorothy and husband Donald Harper also of Steelville, Missouri: Betty and husband Bob Hogan of Fenton, Missouri and Pauline and Ray Orville Garrison of Payson, Arizona; one daughter-in-law, Rachel Adams of Steelville, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Grace Adams of Doniphan, Missouri and May Adams of Steelville, Missouri; also sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Willis loved the Lord. He was a member of the Berryman Assembly of God Church for many years. He will be sadly missed by his wife, family, relatives and friends.

Cleo Melvin Ahrens of Bourbon, son of the late John Fredrick Ahrens and Minnie Dora Fredrick, was born June 29, 1921 at Bland, Mo., passed away Tuesday, June 18, 1996 at Sullivan, having attained the age of 74 years.

Cleo was married to Juanita Aherns nee Isgrigs, May 25, 1957 at Hernandez, Mississippi. He received an honorable discharge as a Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corp in 1945. During his military service he was awarded five bronze stars and a good conduct medal.

He is survived by his wife; Juanita Ahrens of Sullivan, Mo., one daughter; Terry Cleo Reibling of Columbia, Ill., one brother; John Ahrens and wife Margaret of Sullivan, two sisters; Norma Allen and Husband Bob of Sullivan, Mo., and Betty Blum of Bourbon, one brother-in-law: Bob Isgrigs and wife Nancy of Amarillo, Texas, one step-daughter; Rhonda Fife and husband Jr. of Bourbon, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Besides those previously mentioned, Cleo was preceded in death by three brothers Robert Aherns, George Aherns and Stanford Aherns, two sisters; Eda Rhodus and Mildred Matejicek.

Funeral services for Cleo Melvin Aherns were held Saturday, June 22, 1996 at 10 A.M., from the Hassebroek-Felton Funeral Home, Sullivan. Interment followed at the Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, with military honors.

John F. Ahrens of Sullivan passed away Tuesday, August 11, 1998, at the age of 70 years.

John was born April 11, 1928, to the late John F. and Minnie D. (Fredrich) Ahrens at Bland, Missouri. The family made their home in Bourbon for about 10 years and it was at this time John was baptized and confirmed in Concordia Lutheran Church. Later the family moved to Sullivan where John lived the remainder of his life. On September 12, 1953, he was married to Margaret Schallenberg at St. Clair, Missouri and to this union two children were born. In 1963 Mr. Ahrens opened John’s Sales and Service which was a Sullivan landmark for over 30 years. He sold the business in 1996 but continued to work for the new owner until retirement in 1997. John was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #3781 and also attended First Baptist Church of Sullivan for many years. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ahrens of Sullivan, one son, Randy Ahrens of Osage Beach, Missouri, one daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Rev. Gene Parker, two grandsons, Jeremy and Grant Parker, all of Lowell, Massachusetts, Two sisters, Betty Ahrens of Bourbon, Norma Allen and husband Bob and Alberta Schallenberg, of O’Fallon, Missouri, Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, Mr. Ahrens was preceded in death by four brothers, Cleo, Robert, Stanford and a twin, George Ahrens, and two sisters, Edith Rhodus and Mildred Matjicek.

Funeral services were conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 16, 1998, from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Rev. Gene Parker officiating. Interment was in Hill Cemetery, Bourbon. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to BJC Hospice or Concordia Lutheran Church of Bourbon. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Juanita Ahrens passed away Monday, daughter of the late Jasper Ferd Isgrigs, November 4, 1996 at St. Louis, having attained the age of 72 years.

Juanita was born March 1, 1924 at Potosi, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Cleo Ahrens on May 25, 1957 at Hernandez, Mississippi. Juanita and Cleo were long time members of the Sullivan and Bourbon communities. She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Fife and her husband, Junior of Bourbon: her mother, Valley Isgrigs of Sullivan: one brother, Robert Isgrigs and his wife Nancy of Amarillo, Texas; two grandsons, Jeff Fife of Bourbon, and Aaron Fife of Sullivan; two granddaughters, Michele Jones and her husband Tim of Sullivan and Dana Silkwood of Sullivan, other relatives and friends.

Besides those previously mentioned, Juanita Ahrens was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Ahrens.

Albert H. Aiple was born an January 1, 1935 to the union of Albert Daniel Aiple and Ella Rose Aiple nee Toenyes and passed away on October 26, 1986 at Steelville, Missouri at the age of 51 years 9 months and 25 days.

On December 26, 1956 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Macke. One son, Albert, and one daughter, Annely, were born to this union.

Albert was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are one son Albert Aiple Jr.; one daughter Annely L. Aiple; one brother Elmer Aiple; other relatives and friends.

Grace Alyne Aiple nee Smith of St. Louis, formerly of Leasburg, daughter of the late Justin Wheeler Smith Jr. and Evalina Trask, was born September 14. 1911 and passed away Thursday, April 4, 1996 at St.Louis, having attained the age of 84 years, 6 months, and 20 days.

Grace was married to the late Otto Thomas Aiple on August 23, 1933 at Waterloo, Ill.

She is survived by her son: John Aiple and wife Peggy of Fairview Heights, Ill., one daughter; Florence Aumend and husband John of Kirkwood, one daughter-in-law; Charlene Aiple of Valley Park, one sister; Edith Hottman of Fenton. One sister-in-law, Dorothy Colombo of St. Louis, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, other nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Besides those previously mentioned, she is preceded in death by one son; Otto Thomas Aiple Jr., two brothers; Justin Smith and Charles Smith, and six sisters; Lilly Garvin, Ruby Knod, Nancy Cartwright, Florence Buelt, Bertha Bruning and Evelyn Cartwright.

Otto T. Aiple, son of the late Reinhold and Emma Jane Prough Aiple was born on December 12, 1907 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on August 15, 1988 at the family home in Leasburg, Missouri having attained the age of 80 years, 8 months and 3 days.

Otto was reared in the Leasburg area. In 1938 he moved to St. Louis where he was employed as a painter. His interests and hobbies included beekeeping, horticulture and botany, in 1970 he retired and returned to Leasburg.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Bourbon, Missouri, Patinters District Council #2 and Local #137, St. Louis, Missouri.

On August 23, 1933 at Waterloo, Illinois he was united in marriage to Grace A. Smith.

Surviving him are his wife, Grace, a daughter, Florence Aumend and husband John of Kirkwood, Missouri, two sons, Otto Aiple, Jr. and wife Charlene of Valley Park, Missouri, John Aiple and wife Peggy of Fairview Heights, Illinois, a sister, Dorothy Colombo of St. Louis, Missouri, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, a sister, Elsie Fitzgerald and a brother, Albert Aiple.

Prayer services were held at 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 16, 1988 by Sr. Kate DeWitt.

Funeral mass was celebrated 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 17, 1988 from St. Francis Catholic Church in Bourbon with Rev. Stephen Faletti officiating. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri.

John W. Albrecht, son of the late John R. and Clara Twist Albrecht was born on March 5, 1924 in St. Louis and departed this life on December 27, 1989 at the John Cochran Veterans Hospital in St. Louis, having attained the age of 65 years, 9 months and 22 days.
 
Jack was a longtime resident of St. Louis where he worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse from 1948 until 1965 and then as a security guard until 1970 when ill health forced his retirement. In 1970 he then moved to Bourbon, where he made his home.
 
During World War II he served his country with the United States Army Air Force.
 
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Bourbon, and a Charter life member of the DAV Chapter 65, Cuba.
 
Surviving him are: a sister, Dorothy Huntze of St. Louis; two brothers, Lindy Albrecht of Affton and Robert Albrecht of Cahokia, Mo.; nieces; nephews, other relatives and many friends.
 
On August 17, 1946 he was united in marriage to Virginia J. Rose who preceded him in death on September 1, 1988.
 
Graveside services and interment were held Friday, December 29, 1989 
at the National Cemetery in Jefferson Barracks, with Pastor Jim Huit officiating.

Virginia June Albrect, daughter of the late James and Bertha Rose was Born in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on September 1, 1988 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.

Virginia was a resident of St. Louis where she was employed as an accountant for Lincoln Engineer for twenty-five years, and served in the Civil Air Patrol as a pilot at Lambert Field. In 1970 she Moved to Bourbon, Missouri where she made her home.

She was a member of Copling-Spring Post #456 American Legion Aux., a charter member of Crawford #65 DAV, Sullivan Hospital Aux., and the American Morgan Horse Association.

On August 16, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri she was united in marriage to John W. Albrect.

Surviving her are her husband, Jack of Bourbon, Missouri, Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Marlen.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 6, 1988, from the Calvary Baptist Church in Bourbon with Jerry Welborn and Milo Hanes officiating. Interment was in the National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.

Helen Richards Albritton was born February 7, 1911, in Virginia, Minnesota, a daughter of the late Earl and Sara Richards and entered eternal life, February 14, 1994, LaJolla, (San Diego County) California, at the age of 83 years and 7 days.

On March 14, 1938, at Minneapolis, Minnesota, Helen was united in marriage to Robert S. Albritton. They enjoyed fifty-five years together.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Morris Richards.

Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted husband Robert S. Albritton of San Diego, California; two sons, Dr. David Albritton and wife Phyllis of Santa Cruz, California and Robert Rapp Albritton and wife Jennifer of San Diego, California; one sister, Elizabeth and husband T.L. Stebbins of Quincy, Illinois; three grandchildren, James David and Victoria Albritton of San Cruz California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Clyde Harold Alexander, husband of the late Flota Jane Smith and son of the late Ras and Essie Lewis Alexander, passed away Monday, April 29, 1991 at the age of 91 years.

Mr. Alexander was born August 30, 1899 at Bourbon, Missouri and later lived in Leasburg, In January of 1919 he was married to Flota Jane Smith. Mr. Alexander later went to St. Louis where he was employed for over 30 years with Pevely Dairy. After his retirement he came to the Sullivan area to make his home. Mrs. Alexander preceded him in death in 1974. Clyde was a member of the United Methodist Church of Bourbon, and also a member of Cuba Lodge #312 A.F.&A.M. Mr. Alexander was a dear and gentle man whose values were always clear. He had a profound love of church and religion. Mr. Alexander also had tolled the bells at church for many years.

Surviving him is a daughter Norma Jane Draper and Husband Dr. Edgar Draper of Jackson, Mississippi; one sister, Alice Dauderman of Alhambra, Illinois; three grandchildren, Susan Jane Masteller, Anne Meyers Klevay and Neal Edgar Draper; four great-grandchildren Madeline Jane and Jack Edgar Masteller, Alezander James and Nickolas Jon Kelvay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were: Jim Smith, Bourbon; Bob Smith, Jefferson City; Danny Dauderman, Alhambra, Illinois; Randy Sprinkle, St. Joseph; Ronald Knight, St. Charles; and Donald Knight, Leasburg. Curtis N. Alexander of Sullivan, passed away Saturday, November 15, 1997 at the age of 65 years, 2 months, and 3 days.

At the age of 18, he was married to the devoted love of his life, Chleo Hardy on February 9, 1951 in Sullivan, and to this marriage six children were born. A more kind, tender and loving husband no woman could ever wish for; his love for her, a love that will last through eternity, separated them when he passed away on Saturday. In January of 1950, he joined the U.S. Navy and honorably served his country aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. Maddox during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Navy Occupation, China Service, Unites Nations and Korean Service medals. After his discharge, he was self-employed in the propane business, owning Sullivan Propane and later working for Marlen Gas in St. Clair. Curtis has a great love for the outdoors, a great love for hunting and fishing and just walking around in the woods. He loved the Meramec River and the log cabin he and Chleo had that for over forty years filled with children and great-grandchildren, relatives and friends enjoying his many fish frys and gigging parties. His other love was for his interest and talent in music and the many jam sessions he and his brother Dean had with their fiddles and guitars over the years.

He is survived by his wife Chleo, who cared for him and never left his side, the rest of his family who showed him the love and respect they had for him by tenderly coring for him and trying to make his remaining life as comfortable as possible – three sons; Curtis and wife Carole, Cris and wife Marjean, and Clay and wife Cheryl, all of Bourbon; three daughters: Cathy Beers of Bourbon Cheri DeBrecht and husband Kevin of Sullivan, and Caren Waldo and husband Darren of St. Clair; seventeen grandchildren: Curtis Neal II and Cyrus Alexander, Jason and wife Holly, Jennell and Jeremy Alexander, Craig and Casandra Alexander, Tashia, Nathan and Tamrin Beers, Charla, Tara and Warren Byington, K.J. and Stephanie DeBrecht, Tiana and Tawny Waldo, one granddaughter: Christina Renee Alexander who died in infancy; one great-grandson: Christopher Landon Alexander; three brothers: Max Alexander and wife Madeline of Sullivan, Dean Alexander and wife Billie of Stafford, Arizona, and Berkley Alexander and wife Toshiko of Bourbon; ten nephews: Stephen Alexander of Linn, Missouri, Paul and wife Sharon of Sullivan, David Alexander of Arizona, William Alexander and wife Janice of Tennessee, Clyde Alexander and wife Nicki of Bourbon, Eddie Alexander and wife Anna of Cuba, Mike McBride and wife Barbara of Rosebud and Brad McBride and wife Mindy of St. Clair, John Brewington and Tami of St. Louis; three nieces: Yvonne Tidwell and husband Jerome of St. Peters, Pat Porter and husband Jack of Arizona and Diane Green of St. Louis. Seventeen Great nephews, twelve great nieces, six great-great-nieces, several cousins – one of whom remained his life long friend and was with him as often as possible, Zane Miller of Illinois. Curtis had many friends over the years, and one very special friend, Raymond Kline Jr., of Sullivan, who was always devoted to their friendship through all the good years and stood close to him through Curtis” long trial with the cancer that eventually took him home to his Lord. The family continues to grow with yet another grandchild and great-grandchild to add to the family tree, due next year, who Curtis was planning on being a part of their lives, too, and still had dreams of teaching his grandsons the true secrets of his great trout line success. Curtis Alexander will not be forgotten. Funeral services were conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 19, 1997 from New Testament Baptist Church in Sullivan with Pastor Oliver Mullen officiating. Interment was in Crossroads Cemetery in Leasburg, Missouri. Arrangements were under the care and direction of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Flota J. Alexander

We are sorry to tell of the death of Mrs. Flota J. Alexander (nee Smith) which occurred Monday, May 6, 1974, at the age of 72 years, Mrs. Alexander was a long time resident of the Leasburg community and had been active in the affairs of the community until her health began to decline.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde H. Alexander, a daughter Jane Draper, her brothers and sister, Florence Knight, Mac, Earl, Fred, Howard, and Lula Smith, grandchildren and other relatives.

Mrs. Alexander was in state Hoener Funeral Home, Bourbon. Eastern Star services by Cuba Chapter No. 398 were held Tuesday, May 7.

Funeral services were held Wed., May 8, 1974, from the First Methodist Church in Bourbon with Rev. Kenneth Bunting and Rev. W. V. Gastian officiating, Leasburg.

Rose Alexander of Bourbon, passed away Monday, December 11, 1995 at the age of 95 years.

Rose was born October 20, 1900 in Cuba, Missouri to the late Henry and Margaret (McClarney) Miller. Because of her father’s employment, she was raised in various parts of the mid-west. Whenever the family would move, it was done in a covered wagon. On September 7, 1921 she was married to Roy E. Alexander and to this marriage seven children were born of which a son preceded her in death in infancy. Rose was well known for her journalism and ran the Dowler Mill Column in the years. She had contributed her work to several papers in the Sullivan, Cuba, Bourbon, St. Clair and Piedmont areas. In 1982, she was honored by Congress for her contributions in writing. In 1988 she was interviewed in her home by News Channel 2 regarding her unique style of writing. There have been several biographies written about Rose in several mid-west publications. Eleven various awards from the University of Missouri at Columbia were bestowed upon Rose for her style of journalism. Rose was a pioneering woman who was close to her family and provided for them in whatever way she could with what she had to improvise with. Along with the usual maternal qualities, she excelled in cooking and sewing. Rose was the organizer and charter member of the Dowler Mill Reunion which was held every year at the site af the Roy Alexander farm and would attract former residents from the Dowler Mill area for a time of fun and reflection of the “good ‘ol days.” Rose attended Faith Mission Tabernacle in Bourbon and was baptized as a young woman into the Pentecostal faith. She was a former Sunday School teacher and taught in the Junior epartment.

She is survived by four sons; Max Alexander and wife Madeline of Sullivan, David Dean Alexander and wife Billie of Safford, Arizona, Curtis Alexander and wife Chleo of Sullivan, and Berkley Alexander and wife Toshiko of Bourbon, two daughters; Peggy Chenoweth of Sullivan and Amy Lou Brewington and Husband Alan of St. Louis, 19 grandchildren, 45 Great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with her husband and infant son, Rose was preceded in death by six brothers, one grandson, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were conducted 1 P.M. Wednesday, December 13, 1995 from Faith Mission Tabernacle in Bourbon with pastor John Beckett officiating. Interment was in Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Chapel, Bourbon, Missouri.

William Ray Alexander of Steelville, Missouri, was born, February 17, 1913, at Cherryville, Missouri, he was a son of the late Ferd and Orpha Cummings Alexander and passed away March 23, 1986, at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 6 days.

On May 16, 1935, at Steelville, Missouri, Ray was united in marriage to Koradine Smith and to this union one son and two daughters were born. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by one brother, Noel Alexander.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife, Koradine, of the home, one son Noel Kenneth (Jack) and wife Arlene Alexander of Independence, Missouri, two daughters, Donna Raye and husband Keith Miller of Denver, Colorado, Deborh Kaye and husband Bob Templeton of St. Clair, Missouri, one brother, Joe Alexander and wife Geraldine, one sister, Delma Martin, one sister-in-law, Dollie Alexander, all of Steelville, one aunt, Anna Kean of Dawson, Nebraska, six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, one great- grandchild, other relatives and many friends.

Ray will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving and caring father and grandfather. During his early adult years Ray or “Mr. Ray”, as he was lovingly called by his students, taught school in Crawford County. The principles and standards by which he taught and lived helped to mold the character and give direction to many of his students. Later, Ray acknowledged the call to the ministry and pastured churches in Phelps and Crawford Counties.

After retirement from Civil Service, He and his family moved to the Steelville area. He continued to pastor mall rural churches several more years, after which , they became members of the Center Point Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and in many other capacities of church leadership. He was always a faithful and stable Christian influence in the community as well as in his home and church.

William Ray Alexander was in state after 11 A.M. Tuesday, March 25, 1986 at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 11 A.M. Wednesday, March 26, 1986 in the Center Point Baptist Church of Steelville, with his pastor, Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating. Pallbearers were Ron Bouse, Arthur Cook, Terry Garrison, Kenneth L. Halbert, Henry Slovensky and Tad Worley. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Cook, Robert Mikel, Ted Roark, Bob Santhuff, Ken Turnbough, Fred Wilkinson and Ed Worley. Committal prayers and interment was in Carr Cemetery, Cook Station, Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of Britton Bros. Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.

Kenneth C. Allen of Hillsboro, Missouri, passed away October 30, 1989, in Jefferson County, at the age of 69 years, 9 months and 15 days. He was born January 15, 1920, in Potosi, Missouri, to the late Benjamin Harrison and Effie Mae (Huitt) Allen.

Ken served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, took part in the battle of Guadalcanal and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific American Defense Ribbon.

On April 10, 1954 he was united in marriage to Viola Gibson at Sullivan, Missouri. Ken made a profession of faith in God and he, along with his wife, enjoyed being members of the Journeymen Quartet for many years. He was also a member of the Potosi Masonic Lodge #131 A.F. & A.M., and was a driver for the Complete Auto Transit Co. for some 28 years before his retirement.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Blanche Jarvis and one brother, Ben Allen.

Those who remain to mourn his passing from this life are his loving and devoted wife, Viola (Cricket) Allen; two brothers, Ralph Allen of Hillsboro and Russell Allen of Potosi; two sisters, Mae Burbank of Potosi; and Margaret (Mrs. Eddie Trokey) of Desoto, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

A Masonic service was held Thursday evening at Britton Chapel under the direction of the Potosi Lodge #131 A.F. & A.M.

Kenneth C. Allen lay in state after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 1, 1989 at Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 3, 1989, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Guy Lawyer officiating, assisted by Rev. Danny Martin and Rev. Carl Wright.

 Mimi M. Allen of Steelville, Missouri was born December 22, 1898 at Davisville, Missouri a daughter of the late Israel and Alice (Mason) Chandler and passed away May 3, 1984 at the age of 93 years 4 months and 11 days.
 She was united in marriage to Otis Hopkins in 1908 and to this union three children were born. Otis preceded her in death and later Mimi married Alfred Allen.
 Mimi was a loving Mother, Grandmother, relative and friend who will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. In addition to her parents and two husbands Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by one son Homer and one sister Pearl Gilliam.
 Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are one daughter Delphia Morgan of Steelville, Missouri and one son Herchel Hopkins of Steelville, Missouri, seven grandchildren and seventeen great- grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
 Mimi M. Allen was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri where funeral services were held on Saturday, May 5, 1984 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Delmer Hutson officiating. Interment was in the Steelville Cemetery under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home.

Benjamin Woodrow Alvey of Cherryville, Missouri, was born November 18, 1918 at Beulah, Missouri, a son of the late Charlie and Amanda (Brown) Alvey and passed away April 30, 1987, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Canter, Rolla, at the age of 68 years, 5 months, and 12 days.

On July 8, 1939 at Waynesville, Missouri, Ben was united in marriage to Lucy Firestine and to this union one daughter and six sons were born.

Patricia A Alvey, daughter of the late Cecil Clifton and Thelma D. Thompson Dildine was born on November 27, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on September 11, 1987 at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri having attained the age of 48 years, 9 months and 14 days.

Patricia, was a longtime resident of the Sullivan and Bourbon areas and was employed at the Convey Heel Factory in Cuba, Missouri, until ill health forced her retirement.

She was a member of the kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Sullivan, Missouri.

On January 9, 1965 at Salem, Missouri she was united in marriage to Bobby D. Alvey.

Surviving her are her husband, Bobby, a sister, Nina Simpson of Cuba, Missouri, six brothers, Art Holrath of St. Louis, Missouri, Al Dildine of Carbondale, Florida, Mike Dildine of St. Clair, Missouri, Richard and Tracy Dildine both of Cuba, Missouri, her mother-in-law, Lucille Alvey of Steelville, Missouri, Other relations and friends.

A kind and loving wife, sister, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, foster mother, aunt, and friend. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Services were held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, September 13, 1987 from the Kingdom Hall in Sullivan with Bill Harrison officiating.

Edwin F. Amptmann of Bourbon, passed away Friday, February 26, 1993 at the age of 75 years.

Mr. Amptmann was born December 8, 1917 at Gilmore, Missouri to the late Henry and Theresa (Menne) Amptmann. He was raised in the Gilmore area as a young man. He later honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army. His vocation in life was that of a farmer and also ran the grain elevator for 13 years at O’Fallon, Missouri. On February 10, 1973 he was married to Beatrice Carrigan at St. Clair, Missouri

He is survived by his wife Bea Amptmann of Bourbon, three step-sons, Russell, Richard, and Terry Bullock all of St. James, Missouri, one brother, Orvil Amptmann of O’Fallon, Missouri, seven sisters, Edna Terveer, Irene Benham, Colette Amptmann, and Mildred Orf all of St. Charles, Jen Hemmer of O’Fallon, and Ursela Schmucker of Wentzville, Missouri and Mary Sommer of St. Paul, Missouri, 7 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. Mr. Amptmann was preceded in death by eight other brothers and sisters.

Memorial funeral services were conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 3, 1993 from the Eaton Chapel in Bourbon. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Chapel, Bourbon, Missouri.

William Ross Antisdel, son of the late C. G. and Maude Scott Antisdel, passed away at Columbia, Missouri, Monday, April 28, 1986, at the age of 67 years.

Ross, as he was known by his family and friends, was born November 14, 1918, at Bourbon, Missouri. He later moved to the East Coast where he had made his home in Connecticut. Ross honorably served his country during WW II with the US Coast Guard. After the war, he was employed by Ross-Roberts Plastics Company as a maintenance engineer. Upon his retirement, he made his home in Sullivan. Mr. Antisdel was a member of the VFW Russell Schmidt Post No. 3987 and Oxoboxo Lodge No. 116 of Montville, Connecticut.

Surviving are: one son, Rusty Antisdel of New Haven, Connecticut, ; three daughters, Sharon Artes of New Haven, Connecticutt, Vora Antisdel Pedley, California; one brother, Ray Antisdel of Sullivan, Missouri; one sister Vora Schatz of Sullivan; six grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mr. Antisdel was also preceded in death by one sister Ava Cole.

Minnie C. Armistead, Daughter of the late James W. and Clara Peters Davis was born on September 15, 1918 in Sullivan, Missouri, and departed this life on January 10, 1987, at the Sullivan Community Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri having attained the age of68 years, 3 months, and 25 days.

Minnie was a resident of Columbia, Illinois before returning to Sullivan, Missouri.

On May 14, 1937 at Sullivan, Missouri, she was united in Marriage to Roy M Armistead.

Surviving her are her husband, Roy, two daughters, Christine Armistead of University City, Missouri, Kathleen Keating Scholessinger of Toronto Ontario, Canada, two sisters, Dorothy Richards and Lena Belle Ward both of Sullivan, Missouri, three brothers, Clark Davis of Sullivan, Missouri, Woodrow Davis of Garden Grove, California, James Davis of Plymouth, Indiana, two grandchildren, Matthew and Ann, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 12, 1987, from Hassebroek’s Memorial Chapel in Sullivan with Rev. Wally Shearburn Officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri.

Patricia Marshall-Armstrong of St. James, Missouri, was born October 25, 1953, a doughter of Grace Johnson and the late Joseph Rosario Johnson. She departed this life Sunday, February 28, 1999, having reached the age of forty-five years, four months and three days.

Patricia was united in marriage to Joseph Armstrong on September 30, 1995, in Bonne Terre, Missouri.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Armstrong of St.James’ one son James E. Neal of Rolla; one brother, Harold Robbins and wife Leslie of Austin, Texas; one sister, Marty Frazier and husband Randy of Potosi.

Inaddition to her father, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Terrence Robbins.

Patricia had accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church, Bonne Terre, Missouri. At the time of her death, she was associated with the Hardcore International Ministries, St. James, Missouri. Patricia had dedicated her life to the church and her Savior, always making time to volunteer to its many functions.

She had a great love for her family and friends, each of them held a very dear place in her heart.

Vivitation was held Thursday, March 3, 1999, from 4 to 9 P.M. at the Gum & Son Funeral Home in Potosi.

Funeral Services were conducted Friday, March 4, 1999, at 11 A.M. at the Christian Fellowship Church in Bonne Terre with Pastor Royce R. Lamarr officiating. Burial was in New Diggins Cemetery, Rt 1 Mineral Point, under the direction of Gum & Son Funeral Home, Potosi.

Serving as Pallbearers were: Jim Neal, Tyrone Frazier, Harold Robins, Kevin Mehaffy, larry Green and Clyde Frazier.

Mrs. Grace Arnold was born on September to the union of Simon and Nancy Brand nee Hamby and passed away on January 13, 1979 at the age of 82 years.

She was united in marriage to George Arnold on May 13, 1916. Two sons. George and Fred were born to this union. Her husband preceded her in death.

Mrs. Arnold was a life long resident of Crawford County. She was a member of the Sacred Hearth Church of Leasburg.

Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are: two sons, George and Fred Arnold, one sister, Mrs. Alice Brune, Three grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, other relations and many friends.

Two sisters, Helen Highland and Elsie Koch preceded her in death.

Mrs. Arnold was in state at the Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, January 16, 1979 at 11:00 A.M. Father Lahr officiating. Interment was in the Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri.

Lucille Mildred Arnold of Viburnum, Missouri, was born Wednesday, October 16, 1935, at St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of Leona Maude (Adams) Halbert and the late Horace Nathan Halbert. She passed away Tuesday, June 13, 1995, at Phelps County Regional Medical Canter, Rolla, at the age of 59 years, 7 months, and 28 days.

January 19, 1963, at St. Charles, Missouri, Lucille was united in marriage to Earl Arnold and to this union one son, Christopher Elmer Arnold and one daughter, Kimberly Ann Arnold were born.

In addition to her father, Lucille was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Lee Halbert.

Lucille Mildred Arnold lay in instate after 4 P.M. Thursday, June 15, 1995, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 1 P.M. Friday, June 16, 1995 at the Assemble of God Church, Boss, Missouri with Pastor Paul David Officiating.

Committal prayers and interment were in Boss Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Emory, Mike Halbert, Steve McDougal, Jimmy, Larry, and Tim Walls.

William Archie Arnott was born in Dent County, Missouri, February 10, 1905, a son of the late Daniel W. and Alice J. (Campbell) Arnott. He entered eternal rest July 27, 1995, at Briarwood Manor, Cuba, Missouri, at the age of 90 years, 5 months, and 17 days.

December 31, 1930, at Salem, Missouri, “Pete” was united in marriage to Ruby Burrus and to this union one son was born.

Pete was employed as shop foreman at Earl’s Chevrolet for thirty-six years. After retirement, he and his wife Ruby became custodians for the First Baptist Church of Steelville, Missouri. He devoted his life to the custodial care of the church for twenty-three years.

Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife, Ruby Arnott; his son and daughter-in-law, William and Zardrelle Arnott of Steelville, Missouri; two granddaughters, Carol and husband Dave May of St. Louis, Missouri, and Kayla Arnott of Houston, Texas; one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter, Mitchel and Melissa May of St. Louis, Missouri; other relatives and friends.

William Archie Arnott lay in state after 2 P.M. Friday, July 28, 1995, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 11 A.M. Saturday, July 29, 1995, in the Britton Chapel with Dr. Cardis Bryan officiating.

Ruby Pearl Arnott was born April 14, 1911, a daughter of the late George L. and Jennie V. (Conway) Burrus. She entered eternal rest Thursday, July 22, 1999, at the Crawford County Health Care, Cuba, Missouri, at the age of 88 years, 3 months and 8 days.

December 31, 1930, at Salem, Missouri, Ruby was united in marriage to William Archie “Pete”” Arnott. One son William E Arnott, was born to this union. Pete and Ruby enjoyed almost sixty-five years together, before his death July 28, 1995.

Ruby was a member of Steelville First Baptist Church. She and Pete served the church faithfully for twenty-three years as the custodial staff, caring for the different aspects of the building maintenance with much devotion.

Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Zardrelle Arnett; two granddaughters, Carol and husband Dave May of Ballwin, Missouri and Kayla Arnott of Ft. Elsie Marie Ash (nee Parker) of Sullivan, passed away Friday, January 1, 1993 at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Mo., at the age of 78 years.

Elsie was born August 16, 1914 at Huzzah, Missouri. Daughter of the late Ben and Leanor Dodd Parker. She was united in marriage on August 23, 1934 to George Washington Ash. Elsie was a member of Cave Spring Baptist Church of Sullivan.

She is survived by four sons, Everett and wife Marilyn Ash of Sullivan, George and wife Barbara Ash of Bourbon, Jerry and wife Kathy Ash of Leasburg, Gary and wife Judy Ash of Bourbon, and two daughters, Bernice Brewer and husband Helmer of Bourbon, and Patsy Conway and husband Bob of Steelville, Mo., one daughter-in-law Eddie Ash of St. Clair, Mo., 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one brother, Claude Parker, and one sister, Lily Coffman, both of Salem, Mo., other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband George, and two sons, Kenneth and Lloyd Ash, her mother and father Ben and Leanor Parker, one grandson, Jeremy Ash, four brothers, Herman Parker, Van, Bill and Clarence Parker, and two sisters Easter Miller and Lidia Parker.

Funeral services were conducted 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 4, 1993, from New Testament Baptist Church in Sullivan, with Rev. Oliver Mullen Officiating. Interment was in Sanders Cemerery, Rural Route Steelville, Mo. Funeral Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Mo.

Lloyd LaVerne Ash of St. Clair, Missouri, was born on April 7, 1941 at Huzzah, Missouri, son of Elsie Marie Ash nee Parker and the late George Washington Ash. On November 25, 1984 he was united in marriage to Edith Marie Briggs and thrir families were joined ans one. Lloyd departed this life on August 10, 1991 having reached the age of fifty years, four months and three days.

He is survived by his wife, Edie Ash, of St. Clair, Mo.; by three sons, Rocky Ash of Alabama, Bryan Mesey and Wife, Gina, of Almo Gorgo, New Mexico and Keith Ash of Sullivan, Mo.; by three daughters, Tammy Oxdine of Cuba, Mo., Sherry Mesey Davis of Springfield, Ill., and Fay Wood and husband, Mike, of Bourbon, Mo.; by his mother, Elsie Ash of Sullivan, Mo.; his mother-in-law, Ella Briggs of St. Clair, Mo.; by four brothers, Floyd “Everett” Ash and wife, Marilyn, of Sullivan, Mo., George Ash and wife, Barbara, of Bourbon, Mo., Jerry Ash and wife, Kathy, of Leasburg, Mo., and Gary Ash and wife, Judy, of Bourbon, Mo.; by two sisters, Berniece Brewer and husband, Hilmer, of Bourbon, Mo., and Patsy Conway and husband, Bob, of Steelville, Mo.; by seven grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Ash.

Lloyd was a Christian and a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church of St. Clair, Mo. His church was his “second home” and the time spent and shared with fellow members gave him great joy. Lloyd’s hobbies and interests were many. He had worked as a welder in commercial construction for many years and was also very talented in working with leather. His favorite pastime was horseback riding and caring for his horses. He was happiest when he was outside and spent time gardening and working with wood. He and Edie loved to travel and the trips and times they have shared will be treasured memories forever.

A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at 1 P.M. Monday, August 12, 1991 at Friendship Baptist Church, St. Clair, Mo., with Reverend T. Aaron Maxwell officiating. Interment was in Cave Springs Cemetery, Springbluff, Mo. The Ash family was served by the Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, Missouri.

Berdie Mae Ashley nee Osbourn was born on September 10, 1899 at Bourbon, Missouri to the union of William C. Osbourn and Gusta V. Osbourn nee Forte and passed away on June 11, 1989 at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 1 day.

Berdie was a loving aunt, great-aunt, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.

Those who survive to mourn her passing are her loving niece Christine Brown; two great-nieces Patricia Rother and Jean Schuler; three great-nephews Robert Brown, Jerry Brown and Kenneth Osbourn; great-great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Berdie Mae Ashley nee Osbourn was in state at the Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 13, 1989 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Fair Pinnell officiating. Interment was in the Crossroads Cemetery. All arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cube, Missouri.

Lora Addie Ashworth was born February 4, 1901 at Waynesville, Missouri a daughter of the late John J. and Martha Louisa Dunham York and passed away, May 2, 1993, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 28 days.

March 4, 1922, Lora was united in marriage to Edward Burl Ashworth. They enjoyed fifty-three years together before his death, January 31, 1975.

Lora was also preceded in death by four brothers, John H. York, Pryor Otto York, William Albert York, Sterling Henry York and five sisters, Martha Jane York Bales, Edith E. York Logan, Lavonia Stella York Logan, Lottie M. York and Anna L. York.

Among those who remain to mourn her death are a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Lora Addie Ashworth lay in state after 4 P.M. Tuesday, May 4, 1993, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 1 P.M. Wednesday, May 5, 1993, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. James Perkins officiating. Musical selections were beautifully done by Georgia Beth Barksdale accompanied was in Steelville Cemetery.

James Irvin Askins born October 15, 1893, at Dillard, Missouri, left his earthly home of 96 years, 3 months and 25 days to arrive at his eternal home, February 10, 1990. James “Irvin” as he was known to his family and many friends and “Pa Irv” to all his beloved children and grandchildren, was the son of Franklin and Artie (Turnbough) Askins.

Irvin served his country in the United States Army during World War I, enlisting March 3, 191, serving thirteen months in France, England and Germany. He received an honorable discharge, May 6, 1919, at Camp Zachary Taylor, Kentucky.

He was united in marriage to Ada Pearl Worley and to this union two sons and two daughters were born.

For most of his life, Irvin was a farmer and lived in the Dillard-Viburnum area. After retirement he made his home with his son and daughter-in-law, Truman and Betty Askins. He made a profession of faith many years ago and just recently reconfirmed that Christian Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Askins; one son Arthur Paul Askins; one sister, Bessie Andrews; one grandson, one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of “Pa Irv” are his two devoted daughters, Frances and husband Noah Turnbough of Viburnam, Missouri, Dorothy and husband Earl Sellers of Bonne Terre, Missouri; one loving son, Truman Askins and wife Betty of Arnold, Missouri; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter , other relatives and many friends.

James Irvin Askins lay in state after 6 P.M. Sunday, February 11, 1990 at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. American Legion Post 601 of Davisville, Missouri, conducted memorial services. 7 P.M. Monday evening. Funeral services were held 1 P.M. Tuesday, February 13, 1990 in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Virgil Parker officiating. Graveside Military Honors were conducted by an Honor Guard from Fort Leonard Wood with SFC William H. McDonald Jr. in charge. Pallbearers were James, Justin, Paul, and Ralph Askins, Leo Blair and Don Simmons. Committal prayers and interment were in Sellers Cemetery, Dillard, Missouri. Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.

William “Bill” F. Audrain Jr. was born on May 17, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of William F. Audrian and Harriet Audrain nee Lash and passed away on March 14, 1989 at St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 48 years, 9 months and 27 days.

On December 29, 1973 Bill was united in marriage to Linda Lahay. They have had a happy marriage. Bill was a Veteran and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy on March 28, 1961.

He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church of Cuba, Missouri.

Bill was a devoted husband, loving father, son, grandfather, brother, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.

Those who survived to mourn his passing from this life are his loving wife Linda Audrain; two sons William and Shawn Audrain; two daughters Laurie Billingham and Lisa Lewis; stepson Dean Riddle; mother Harriet Audrain; one brother Thomas Audrain; one sister Kathy Baldwin; five grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

William “Bill” F. Audrain Jr. was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Friday, March 17, 1989 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Rick Dablemont officiating. Interment was in the Jefferson Barracks Memorial Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cube, Missouri.

Jesse Raymond Austin was born June 11, 1916 in Cuba, Missouri to the late James Edward Austin and Nellie Levine Cook Austin and died October 20, 1994 in Ozarks Medical Center at West Plains, Missouri at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 9 days.

Jesse married Gladys Marie Brewer, February 26, 1940 in Steelville, Mo. ans to this union six children were born.

Jesse served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He was a carpenter by trade, he worked in residential and commercial building, doing all kinds of construction.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Wm. Edward Austin and one sister Mable Schafer.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are Gladys, the mother of his children; three sons James J. Austin of Mountain View, Mo., Jesse Raymond Austin II and wife Lynne of Winona, Mo., Richard Franklin Austin of Cameron, Mo.; three daughters, Betty M. McDaniel and husband Robert of Pacific, Mo., Patricia A. Waterhouse and husband Gary of Pacific, Mo., 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, six brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends all who will sadly miss and fondly remember Jesse R Austin.

Visitation was after 4:00 P.M., Saturday, October 22, 1994 at Huston Funeral Home in Cuba. Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 23, 1994 at Hutson Funeral Chapel in Cuba with Rev. Marvin Ivie officiating. Music was provided by Brooke and Valerie Hutson and accompanied by Mrs. Wanda Woodruff on the organ.

Burial for Jesse Austin was in the Enloe-Hodge Cemetery at Cuba, Mo. Pallbearers were Mike Sczepaski, Kevin McDaniel, Robert McDaniel, David Waterhouse, Mark Waterhouse and Gary Waterhouse.

Curtsey Bryan Avery, a son af the late Josephine (Walker) and James Avery, was born October 3, 1896 at Leasburg, Missouri and passed away, January 22, 1985, in the Sullivan Community Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri, at the age of 88 years, 3 months and 19 days.

In 1918 he was united in marriage to Beulah Clonts and to this union two sons were born. She preceded him in death. In 1973, he was married to Mary McGrath.

Other loved ones who preceded him in death were one son Clearance Bryan Avery, three brothers, Russel, Champ and Trezzie Aver. And one sister, Grace Blair.

Curt is survived by his loving wife, Mary Avery of Cuba, Missouri; ane son Perle Avery and wife Lillian of Steelville, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Imogene Avery of St. Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Curtsey Bryan Avery were held at 1 P.M. Friday, January 25, 1985 in the chapel of Britton Bros. Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating. Pallbearers were Kenneth, Mark, Eugene, Wayne and Perle Avery Jr. and Mickey Dilldine.

Haskle Avery

Reabel L. Avery of Ballwin, Missouri, formerly of Leasburg, passed away Friday, January 3, 1992 at the age of 83 years.

Mrs. Avery was born April 15, 1908 at Steelville, Mo. to the late John and Angie Halbert Brown. She spent the majority of her life in the Steelville/Leasburg area until 1969, when ill health caused her to move to Ballwin, Mo. to live with one of her daughters. On June 11, 1928, she was married to William T. Avery at Leasburg, Mo. Reabell was a member of the Liberty Methodist Church in Steelville, Mo. since 1931.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Avery of St. Louis and John Avery of Owensville, four daughters, Grace Mallow of Steelville, Nellie Cook and Bessie Jackson both of Ballwin, Adele Suerig of Robertsville, one brother, Harry Brown of Imperial, Missouri, two sisters Overa Sellers of Viburnum and Nora Banks of Steelville, 14 grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Avery was preceded in death by hre husand, William, April 21, 1969, 2 brothers, 5 sisters, and one grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 6, 1992. from the Eaton Chapel in Bourbon, Mo., with Pastor Oliver Mullen officiating. Interment was in Liberty Cemetery, Steelville, Mo.

Armin F. Ayers was born September 4, 1916, at Rolla, Missouri, a son of the late Joseph F. and Lola (Spradling) Ayers. He entered eternal life June 26, 1995, at the Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri, at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 22 days.

January 15, 1939, at Vichy, Missouri, Armin was united in marriage to Verna Bouse, a daughter of Maggie (Bell) and John James Bouse. One son and one daughter were born to this union. They have enjoyed over fifty-five years together.

Armin worked for Earl’s Chevrolet in Steelville from 1939 to 1954. He also worked several years at the J.R. Wilkins charcoal plant in Steelville.

He served his country in the U.S. Army for two years, during World War II.

In 1962 Armin and his family moved to Hope, Arkansas where he worked for the Hope Bakery Company, for over twenty-one years, until his retirement. He and Verna just recently moved back to Steelville. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Steelville, where he had previously served as Sunday School Teacher and RA leader.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Shields Ayers.

Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Verna Ayers of the home in Steelville, Missouri; one son, James Ayers and wife Linda of Hope, Arkansas; one daughter, Donna Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas; six grandchildren; one brother, William Ayers and wife Geneva of Rolla, Missouri; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pauline (Mrs. Shields) Ayers of Rolla, Missouri; Eileen Winer of Hope, Arkansas; Vera Hewkin, Joann Bouse and Ron and Joyce Bouse , all of Steelville, Missouri; Chuck Bouse, Pete Bouse, all of Cuba, Missouri and Jack and Julie Bouse of St. James, Missouri; Nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Armin J. Ayers lay in state after 5 P.M. Wednesday, June 28, 1995, at the First Baptist Church, Steelville, Missouri with Dr. Cardis Bryan officiating. Musical selections were provided by vocalists Rick and Brad Bouse with Pianist Joyce Bouse.

Committal prayers and interment were in Fairview Cemetery, Butts, Missouri.

Pallbearers were Chad Ayers, Sam Bailey, Brock Bouse, Jeff Bouse, Kirk Bouse, Mike Bouse, Jeff Wilson and Joe Winer.

Carl Willard “Wid” Ayers of Route 2, Mineral Point passed away on Friday, February 14, 1992 in the Lutheran Medical Center, St. Louis, Mo.

The son of Goldie (Neff) Ayers Dean and the late Clifford Ayers was born in Washington County on February 22, 1941 being 50 years, 11 months and 22 days of age at the time of his passing.

Mr. Ayers worked as a welder at a Machine company for many years. Mr. Ayers leaves to survive him his mother, Goldie Dean of Route 2, Mineral Point; two sons, Carl Willard, Jr. “Rusty” Ayers of route 1 Mineral Point and Carl Gene Nettles of Route 1 Potosi; two daughters, Carla Ayers and Cindy Ayers, both of St. Louis; Three grandchildren, Justin Ayers and Christopher Devore, both of St. Louis and Brandi Nettles of Rt. 1, Potosi; four sisters, Wilma June (Mrs. Bud) Benson of Potosi, Susie (Mrs. John Wilkinson) of Leasburg, Sallie (Mrs. Ron Skiles) of Potosi, and Barbara (Mrs. Joe Moise) of St. Clair; one half sister, Hester Ayers of HC 88, Steelville; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his father, Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles William and Claude Wendell Ayers and an infant brother, and one infant sister.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, February 16, 1992 at 2 P.M. at Gum & Son Chapel, Potosi, with Rev, Ted Moore officiating. Interment was in the Berryman Cemetery under the direction of Gum & Son Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

Serving as Pallbearers were David, Clifford, and Gary Wilkinson, Carl Neff, Bud Benson and Joe Moise.

Janice Earldine Major Ayers was born December 10, 1941, at Dillard, Missouri, a daughter of Hollie Melburn and Berniece Dormalee (Bell) Conaway. She entered eternal life, December 26, 1995, at the age of 54 years and 16 days. At St. Louis, Missouri, in November 1978, Jan was united in Marriage to Gary Ayers.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Skylar Major.

Janice Earldine Major Ayers lay in state after 3 P.M. Thursday, December 28, 1995, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 1 P.M. Friday, December 29, 1995, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating. Musical selections were provided by pianist Helen Platter and Vocalists Rev. Robert and Carol Coleman.

Committal prayers and interment were in Stonehill Cemetery, Salem, Missouri. Pallbearers were Randy Conaway, Kerry Friend, Lindy, Marvin, and Terry Major and Wes Snider.

Gretchen A. Ayers of Bourbon passed away Thursday, January 28, 1999, at the age of 65 years. Mrs. Ayers was born October 27, 1933, to the late Wilford R and Lucille (Folsom) Bell in Detroit, Michigan. She was joined in marriage in 1952, to Danald L. Clark at Algonae, Michigan, and to this marriage four children were born. Later in life, she was joined in marriage on September 25, 1980, to Donald G Ayers at Sullivan, Missouri.

Gretchen invested the majority of her life serving her family as a homemaker. She especially enjoyed caring for flowers and plants, and held an appreciation for antiques and collectibles. Also, whenever possible, she found pleasure in traveling extensively around the country. Those who knew her best describe her as a “happy-go-lucky” person, who was “one-of-a-kind” and “one fine lady.” She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Ayers, of Bourbon, four sons, Donald Clark Jr. and wife Cindy, of Lynnwood, Washington, Steven Clark and wife, Sonja, of Bonne Terra, Missouri, Jeffrey Clark of Warrenton, Missouri, and Joseph Clark and wife Billie of Bowling Green, Missouri, one step-son Donald Ayers Jr. of St. Louis, One step-daughter, Janet Callahan of Oakville, Missouri, two brothers, William Bell of Chula Vista, California, and James Bell and wife Sue of Algonac, Michigan, eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A private family gathering in memory og Gretchen A. Ayers was held. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Hester Juanita Ayers of Steelville, Mo., passed away Friday, March 24, 1998, in the mineral Area Reginal Medical Center, Farmington, Mo., at the age of 65 years, 6 months and 17 days. She was born September 7, 1932, at Huzzah, Mo., to the late Clifford Jr., and Irene (Ash) Ayers.

Hester wrote the Huzzah News for the Steelville Star and Quad County Newspapers for 25 year. She was also secretary for the Huzzah Baptist Church, where she was a member for 30 years. She will be remembered for her love of sewing and making quilts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charlie and Emma Ash; Special Friend, Newton Powers; three brothers, Charles “Bill” Ayers, Carl “Wed” Ayers and Claude Ayers; also one infant brother and sister.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are four sisters, Wilma June Benson and husband, Bud of Potosi; Susie Ann Wilkinson and husband, John of Leasburg; Sally Jane Skiles and husband Ron of Potosi and Barbara Moise of St. Clair; an aunt and uncle, Elsie and Eldon Riggs of Desoto; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, March 27, 1998, at the Berryman Assembly of God Church with Rev. Len Young officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Erbon Riggs, Sam Bergner, Roger Deming, Floyd Gilliam, Lindell Wallen and Melvin Haffer.

Interment was in the Shoal Creek Cemetery, Steelville, Mo., under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
