We learn with sadness in our hearts through the Christian Standard, that Rev. Robert L. Lotz, of West Plains, Mo., had died April 19th, 1900. Bro. Lotz was pastor of the Christian church at Sparta, and Indian Run, only two years ago, where he left a host of friends, who feel sorry to hear of his death. Rev. Lotz was born in Daviess County, Missouri, 54 years and six months ago. At the age of 20 he united with the Church of Christ and at once entered christian university at Canton, Mo, to prepare himself for his life work in the service of his master. After spending four years at college he graduated with high honors and immediately entered the ministry.
While at college he supported himself by preaching in the surrounding country and working at the carpenter trade. Since leaving college he has ever been after his Master's business preaching both as an evangelist and pastor over Missouri, Kansas, Ohio and in the far northwest. He has held some of the most important charges in these states and wherever he has been his faithful, earnest work has resulted in upbuilding and strenthening the cause of Christ. He leaves a wife and six children to follow the example of his beautiful christian life. Wherever he was called to preach the gospel he was dearly loved for the purity of his life, the earnestness of his labors and faithfulness as a friend to everybody. His funeral was conducted by the Ministers Alliance, of the city of West Plains His body was taken to Bethany, Mo. to his old home, to be buried beside his father. May we all ever strive to emulate his noble life that we may meet him in that city where death is unknown.
