Register of Deaths
September 1883 - May 1885

In 1883 an Act of the Missouri Legislature required the recording of births and deaths in all counties of the State. As there were no provisions made for enforcement, many counties discontinued the practice after a few years. The following has been extracted from the microfilm copy of the Dent County Register, in the Missouri Archives, Jefferson City. Most deaths were reported by the attending physician, often after considerable delay, so many errors may have occurred, and there could be omissions if a physician was not in attendance. Nationality was given as "American" or "U.S." and deaths were in Dent County, unless otherwise stated.
