Jesse Spradlin Death Notice - Douglas Co. Herald [submitted by Debra Mckim, rlmckim@nemr.net>2-2007 ]

Died March 9, 1905, Jesse Spradlin, an old soldier, near Merritt, Mo. He was born Oct. 13, 1818, in Tenn.  He was married to Susan Bradley, Dec. 13, 1838; went to Indiana before the war, where he raised a large family, nine of whom lived to be grandmothers & grandfathers. He leaves a wife & several children, 46 grandchildren & 46 great –grand- children. He enlisted in the army in June1861; served 18 months when he was disabled, discharged & sent home. After the war he came to Mo. Where he has lived ever since. He professed religion when young and was faithful to the end. He took his companions by the hand & said ;”I will meet you in a better world than this.” He leaves many friends. He died of old age & Dropsy. He will be greatly missed.
