ROBERT LEE "BUS" DAVIS
Robert Lee "Bus" Davis, son of Jesse and Ara Henry Davis, was born Oct. 17,
1907, on Hurricane Creek, and departed this life Oct 10, 1978, in Springfield, MO., at the age of 71 years. On Jan 30, 1937, he ws united in marriage to Thelma
Douglass and to this union were born 1 son, Robert Douglas Davis, and 2
daughters, Wilma Lee Lott and Phyliss Jean Allen. As a true lover of the land, he
spent a lifetime farming, raising cattle, and exerting his knowledge of
agriculture and conservation. Preceding him in death were his parents, Jesse Davis and Ary
Henry Davis, twin brothers, Bill and Herbert, and 1 sister Ruby Davis Shelly.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma, their 3 children, Wilma Lee, Doug, and Phyllis; 5
grandchildren, 3 sisters, Beacie Davis, Patsy Roberts, and Nan Moberly; and 3
borthers, Horton, George, and Ralph. he wa a loving husband, father and grandfather, who
embraced the principles of Christianity as exemplified by his caring fo and
interest in his fellowman. he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. His
quiet, simple life may be best described in the words of the poet, William
Cullen Bryan: "So live, that when thy summons comes to join the innumberable caravan, that moves to that
mysterious realm, where each shall take his chamber in the silient halls of
death, thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night, scourged to his dungeon, but,
sustained and soothed by an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave, like one who
drapery of his couch about him, and lies down to pleasant dreams."
