Obit: James Roberts, 79, Springfield, MO, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in Cox Medical Center South. The son of Marion and Cora Roberts, he was born May 23, 1919, in Eminence, MO. He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring as a Sgt. Major. Following his retirement, he worked for the Federal Government. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Republic, MO, and the Willow Springs Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Aralie Martin; and a sister, Lucille. Survivors include his wife, Maxine "Pat", of the home; a daughter, Penny Peck, Nixa; a son and his wife, David and Linda Roberts, Copperas Cove, Texas; two sisters, Paula Cochran, Springfield, MO, and Louise James, Galena, MO; a brother, George, Willow Springs, MO; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 5, 1999, in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery with the Revs. Donald Bradford and Richard Clark officiating. Full military honors were provided by personnel from Fort Leonard Wood.
